Montebello Genocide Memorial

[edit]

The memorial

Created/expanded by Yerevanci (talk). Self nom at 17:55, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

  • The largest version of the article has about 470 characters, so a 5x expansion would require 2350 characters of prose. The current version has about 1700. Also, Armeniapedia.org is a wiki; what makes it reliable? Chris857 (talk) 02:40, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
I expanded the article a little more and replaced Armeniapedia with another source.--Yerevanci (talk) 16:05, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
Needs a full review. Chris857 (talk) 14:50, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
I have just reviewed the article and tidied up both format and language.
The writer of the article needs to provide the name of the person who designed the memorial, and put it into the first paragraph. This cannot be hard info to acquire, and is common courtesy to provide, in the case of any structure or artwork.

What do you mean by the name of the person who designed the memorial? If you're talking about the architect, his name is on the infobox. --Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 20:11, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
Sure. That's nice. Now write him into the article. As I said above , it's a matter of common courtesy. And you could do with another sentence or two.
Those references that I can access all seem in order. Amandajm (talk) 06:27, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Done! --Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 01:15, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Reviewer needed now that further fixes have been made. However, I should note my concern as to NPOV, both in the writing here and the sources from which they come: the characterization of the city council vote as "courageous" is particularly inappropriate. There should be some neutral sources available, such as perhaps the Los Angeles Times or even a Montebello weekly, that could be used.
More worrying, the what was the second-to-last History paragraph violated WP:COPYVIO, and has been removed: the text "freeway signs directing drivers to the Armenian Genocide Martyrs’ Manument were installed Tuesday. The signs placed along the 60 freeway near the Garfield/Wilcox exits in Montebello" was an exact copy of this source. The reviewer should do a complete check of all sources as part of their review. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:27, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
Note: after finding more infringing material and deleting it, the article is down to 1948 prose characters, and requires a minimum of 2350 as noted above. There is no point in another reviewer at this stage: at least 402 new characters of new material must be written, and it must be from neutral sources. Given that the "courageous" characterization came from material that had been copied from the first source, it is clearly non-neutral. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:01, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
I already paraphrased the COPYVIO sentence and also removed those biased phrases.--Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 21:13, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
FN1 is still a bit close. You should also think about having a second, more neutral source to support that material. Nikkimaria (talk) 19:57, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
Excuse me, what part are you exactly talking about? --Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 02:56, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
First paragraph of History. Nikkimaria (talk) 03:52, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
I removed the unsourced part.--Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 15:51, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
Good. Now, any chance of a neutral secondary source? Nikkimaria (talk) 03:21, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
I added three newspaper articles from LA Times and Whittier Daily News. I hope they are considered neutral source.--Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 21:09, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Good enough. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:05, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
