Geoffrey Prime
[edit]- ... that the Soviet spy and paedophile Geoffrey Prime can speak Swahili?
- ALT1:... that former GCHQ employee and Soviet spy Geoffrey Prime can speak Swahili?
- Reviewed: Tropical Storm Morakot (2003)
2x expanded and sourced (BLP) by Gareth E Kegg (talk). Self nominated at 23:23, 7 November 2013 (UTC).
- Note: this is not eligible for the BLP exception, as the article had sources, including inline refs, before expansion. But that doesn't matter, because it satisfies the normal 5x expansion rule. A new hook is called for; I'm pretty sure a hook which identifies a living person as a paedophile will not pass. MANdARAX • XAЯAbИAM 01:01, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- Perhaps...I have amended it. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 08:47, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- Excellent article, but it deserves a more interesting hook. Some suggestions:
- ALT1: ... that Geoffrey Prime was encouraged by the Royal Air Force to learn the Russian language, and subsequently caused "exceptionally grave damage" to British interests as a Soviet spy?
- ALT2: ... that the considerable damage caused by Soviet spy Geoffrey Prime "would have been even worse" if the Russians' handling of him hadn't been "incompetent and inept"?
- ALT3: ... that Geoffrey Prime worked for eleven years at GCHQ, and was only discovered to be a Soviet spy after his arrest in 1982 for the indecent assault of young girls?

- I do like alt hooks 2 and 3. A review is needed! Gareth E Kegg (talk) 18:49, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
- Article ok. It might seem odd that 14-odd years spying for Russia (jail sentence 35 years) is more of a BLP issue than 3 assaults on girls (sentence 3 years), but he is notable for the first and not the second. ALTs 2 & 3 are best I think, though ALT 2 should say "had not". Perhaps ALT 3 is best. Johnbod (talk) 04:38, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
