I find the source given for this being the first diesel submarine unconvincing. It is not, IMO, a reliable source. However, cite 3, again IMO, is, so I have moved that in and as such am happy to approve this. When I first read the hook I thought that "standard" made it clunky, so as you are happy for it to go, it is gone.

  • The article takes pains to distinguish between the first submarine to be commissioned and the first to be launched, so we should make that distinction in the hook for our eagle-eyed readers. I am promoting this alt:
