  • - Length, Date, and Cite checks out for both articles. Interesting hook! Best, Mifter (talk) 01:45, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
  • Unfortunately, over half of the 2470 prose character Mikawaya article is taken directly from the pre-existing Frances Hashimoto article. Not only does that make it less than 1500 new characters, but it's also less than half new, and by WP:DYKSG#A5, articles which include such existing material have to be 80% new material (basically the 5x rule is applied to the size of the duplicated material). What this means is that Mikawaya cannot be a separate article for the purposes of DYK unless it receives a very large expansion, to something well over 6300 prose characters (I haven't done an exact count of what's been duplicated, and it may be more extensive than is immediately obvious): the hook would have to unbold Mikawaya (though it could otherwise remain the same), and the separate credit for it would have to go away. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings here. Let me know what you'd like to do: if it's a simple matter of removing Mikawaya's bolding and making this a single-article hook, the tick could be restored right away. Can I withdraw the Mikawaya nomination, and instead just focus on Frances Hashimoto's article? If so, I'd like to withdraw Mikawaya if that will clear the way for approval. Scanlan (talk) 04:40, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
Of course. I've just unbolded Mikawaya in the hook and removed the DYKmake credit for it. (I also corrected the spelling for "confectionery" and unlinked it so there aren't two ordinary links in a row.) Everything's all set for approval. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:09, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
  • Single article approved for DYK—hook facts sourced in the article, and the rest per Mifter's review above. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:09, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
