  • This article was 2x expanded (as a BLP) on April 6 and 7, it is over 1500 characters, no copyvio issues are detected (Earwig's detector gives it a 2% likelihood), and QPQ is satisfied (though please be sure to check for copyvio issues before approving). There are, however, a few issues that need to be addressed before this article can be approved:
  1. Can you provide a source that substantiates the claim that he is commonly known as "Melo"?
  2. You need an inline citation to substantiate the following sentence: "Born in Santa Maria de Lamas, Aveiro District, Melo kicked off his career with local C.F. União de Lamas after joining their youth system in 1998."
  3. Can you clarify which source states he "continued competing in the lower leagues until the age of 21"? How do we know he wasn't 20 at the time? this box score suggests that he made his debut with the club before his 21st birthday.
  4. Can you clarify which source stated he "made his professional debut in 2011–2012" with Arouca? Wasn't he playing professionally in 2009-2011?
  5. Can you provide a source that says Melo's goal January 22, 2012 was the only goal of the season? You may want to cite a link with his career totals after this sentence because it will show how many goals he scored that season (i.e. just that one goal).
  6. Can you provide a source that says Melo signed with Sheffield Wednesday "[o]n 2 February 2015"? The source you cite was published on February 2, 2015, but it does not say he signed a contract on this date. In fact, the article says the deal was still pending because it was subject to international clearance.
  7. Can you provide a source that says he made his debut for Sheffield Wednesday on February 10, 2015? You cite this source, which says he played in the game, but it does not say he made his debut that day.
  8. The proposed hook is not entirely clear. Do you mean that Moreirense was the champion of the second tier during the year in which Melo served as captain? If that is what you mean, then you need to say somewhere in the text of the article that Melo was the captain of Moreirense when they won the league title.
@Royroydeb: Please let me know if you have any questions about the comments listed above. Once they are resolved, I will be happy to approve this nomination. Best, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 16:04, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
Notecardforfree, Royroydeb has not edited on Wikipedia since April 18. I don't believe the issues have been addressed by any of the other editors on the article. If there isn't any action soon—especially on the problematic hook—the nomination should probably be closed as unsuccessful. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:58, 12 May 2016 (UTC)
@BlueMoonset: thanks so much for following up about this nomination. I've been meaning to check-in for a while now to see where this stands. @Royroydeb: if no action is taken in the next 48 hours to improve this article, I am going to have to close this nomination as unsuccessful. Unfortunately, the required improvements have not been made for this article so I am going to have to close this nomination as unsuccessful. -- Notecardforfree (talk) 22:31, 14 May 2016 (UTC)
