Entitativity

  • ... that entitativity is why some groups feel more “groupy” than others?
  • Source: Research shows that people consistently distinguish between different types of groups based on perceived entitativity. Intimacy groups, such as family and friends, are generally considered the most entitative. Task groups, like committees, come next, followed by social categories (e.g., gender, race). Finally, loose associations—such as people who like classical music or those waiting in line at the bank—are seen as the least entitative.

  • The article is new enough (5x expansion starting 18 November) and long enough. The article is also well sourced. However, the word "groupy" doesn't appear in the quoted source. Nor does it appear in the Wikipedia article you wrote. We really need sourcing for the "groupy" part or an alternative hook that is supported by a reliable source and used in the article. @Andrea Low: Please address the above.--Launchballer 00:14, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
@Cbl62: Hi! Thanks for clarifying. I've added a line with a citation in the wikipedia article in the first paragraph of the lead section: "Entitativity refers to the extent to which a group is perceived as a cohesive, unified entity. In other words, it describes how "groupy" a collection of individuals is." Hope this works! Andrea Low (talk) 14:20, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

  • Hello, I am the GA reviewer for this article and saw this nomination on the talk page while reviewing. The statement that entitativity is why some groups feel more "groupy" than others invokes causation, but it is not the case that the concept of entitativity causes this phenomena. Rather, entitativity is the word we use to refer to this idea. Therefore, a more accurate statement would be something like:
ALT1: "...that entitativity refers to how 'groupy' a group is?" It is a wonderful world (talk) 20:50, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
ALT1 has been proposed by a reviewer and accepted by the nominator; the hook is sourced and cited in the article. Everything else is fine, QPQ not required. Excellent hook, great article - thank you for your work. Good to go! Chaiten1 (talk) 20:17, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
