Django Unchained

[edit]

Improved to Good Article status by Captain Assassin! (talk). Self nominated at 17:10, 27 January 2015 (UTC).

  • New enough, long enough, within policy. Hook fact is not written in correct English and as such makes little sense. It is also not cited anywhere in the article: the lead states that the film grossed over $425 million worldwide, but nothing about it being Tarantino's highest-grossing film "until 2013". The Box Office Mojo source does not state this anywhere. QPQ not done and the nominator has had 26 DYK's in the past. CR4ZE (tc) 03:26, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
Well, here is the QPQ, hook's rephrased, and I'm going to put a source in the article about the fact. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 03:58, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
I've slightly modified the hook so it makes more sense. Why is there no separate section in this article to cover the box office performance of the film? Just critical reception and accolades. Also I would be concerned about having a hook saying highest grossing without some kind of "as of" especially as he has a new film out this year which could potentially surpass it. Cowlibob (talk) 16:33, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
CR4ZE, I've added a section about "Box office" with details about how it is Tarantino's highest grossing film. Cowlibob, I think we should say "that the 2012 western Django Unchained is Quentin Tarantino's highest-grossing film as of 2013, surpassing 2009 film Inglourious Basterds." What do you say? --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 16:57, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
I don't think the hook needs to mention Inglourious Basterds, but other than that I have no problem with what you have. Western needs disambiguation. CR4ZE (tc) 07:09, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, disambiguation added. I think we need to mention the year or say "until now" in the hook, per Cowlibob. There is another film of his coming this year, which could be possibly more grossing. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 10:13, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
Just ping-ing CR4ZE to take a look back. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 16:04, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
@Captain Assassin!: Sorry for getting back to this late, although I did say above that I had no problem with the hook. I don't think it necessarily needs to mention Inglourious Basterds, but in light of your concern about The Hateful Eight, you could edit the hook to something like "Django Unchained is currently Quentin Tarantino's highest-grossing film". Happy to support something like that. CR4ZE (tc) 07:48, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
@CR4ZE: Hook is rephrased per your suggestion. Thanks. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 17:08, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
...So, is this being promoted or...? CR4ZE (tc) 06:50, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
