Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny
[edit]... that upcoming film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny is the first film to be released on Netflix?
Created by Captain Assassin! (talk). Self nominated at 10:20, 2 October 2014 (UTC).
- @Captain Assassin!: The hook fact is mentioned in the lead, but not in the article (and it is not cited). The article also says that the movie is being released on IMAX at the same time, so perhaps the hook isn't entirely true? A complete review will follow if/when this is addressed. --Jakob (talk) 16:54, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- Yes Jakob, I'll do it in a few hours. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 19:48, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- Now Jakec, take a look at article again, all done. I think the hook is good, because the film will release simultaneously on IMAX, but many other theaters refused to show the film. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 16:26, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- Pulled from prep due to hook issues and the inclusion of three bare urls, which are not allowed in DYK articles. Discussion at the DYK talk page pointed out that Netflix has had initial releases of films before, just no feature films. The Deadline source used for the hook states that this film "likely will be the first one released", with others in the pipeline, but doesn't guarantee it will end up being first. (Although, unlike Deadline, the Variety source FN12 doesn't seem to express doubts about it being first.) So you could go with "first-announced feature film" ("feature" is important), and "released directly" to Netflix. There are also some grammar issues that really ought to be cleared up: use of "the Netflix" is not standard, for example, and the Release section should not start with a date. I also think the final sentence in Filming is misleading; while Variety said that principal photography was underway, the article gives the impression that this is a new development, while it could have been going on for close to two months if the August date was correct, and I don't doubt it was—Harry Shum, Jr., one of the movie's stars, has been tweeting about New Zealand since some time in August. - I concur that the word feature is essential. I have seen two of the three Netflix films at Template:Netflix, so the current hook makes no sense to me.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:21, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, it is the first film ever to be released directly on Netflix along with IMAX theaters. In the past the films (some of which you seen) released on Netflix after they were showed on Cinemas, but it is going on Netflix along with the Cinema release. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 15:15, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- You need to make the point clear because The Square was released on Netflix and in theatres on the same day, which is not what you are saying the distinction is. It is not clear to me that either Shotgun Wedding or Mitt was ever released in cinemas. Please be very precise.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 16:38, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- Actually the ALT1 is clearing all points here, yes The Square was released on the same time but it was a documentary, Mitt was also documentary, and the Shotgun Wedding was a feature film but only released on Netflix. So Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II will be the first ever feature film releasing at the same time on both Netflix and IMAX. But I read the reference no.1 again and I conclude that actual hook is The Weinstein Company is to release its first feature film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II directly on Netflix and IMAX theaters at same time. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 02:08, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- Both documenataries were also feature films.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 03:07, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- Then it is The Weinstein Company's first feature film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II to be released directly on Netflix and IMAX theaters at same time. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 05:06, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- Are you proposing a new ALT?--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:09, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- Perhaps, because I gave the wrong hook before. I think actual hook which citation was giving us was the later one. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 14:00, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- ALT1
... that the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny currently in-production, will be the first ever feature film to be released directly on Netflix along with some of IMAX theaters?
- This isn't the first feature film to be released on Netflix either; it might be the first feature film to premiere on Netflix (I suppose this is what you are trying to convey with "released directly", but compare to "released indirectly" to get what this actually means). Also the last part of the ALT hook ("along with some of IMAX theaters") doesn't make sense. (aren't I the positive vibe girl today?) Belle (talk) 14:22, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- I corrected the hook in last comment, that it is actually The Weinstein Company's first feature film to be released directly on Netflix and IMAX theaters at same time. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 17:59, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- ALT2 ... that the upcoming film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Legend will be the first feature film to premiere simultaneously in IMAX theaters and on Netflix?
- The WP:LEAD of the article continues to assert that this is the first ever feature film to be released directly on Netflix, which we seem to be coming to a consensus as an untrue statement. We need both the hook and article to state properly sourced facts.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:27, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
- At the moment, the hook doesn't seem to reflect the actual title of the film (the article has been moved, and I've adjusted the DYK nompage and DYKmake templates accordingly; this template should not be moved), and the article contains three refs that are bare URLs, which is not allowed for DYK nominees. Once these matters are fixed, then it makes sense to call for a new reviewer, but not before. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:15, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- Changed the hook to reflect title and fixed those urls. ALT2 again? Fuebaey (talk) 07:56, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- New enough, long enough, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. I did some copyediting to clean up the grammar. It appears that all of the issues mentioned above have been resolved. The article lead uses the same language as ALT2 and the hook ref is verified and cited inline. I adjusted the September 29 principal photography fact by saying that "In September 2014, Variety reported that principal photography was underway in New Zealand". The only thing left is a QPQ, as it appears the nominator has more than 5 DYK nominations. Yoninah (talk) 23:57, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
