Camino Island

[edit]

Created by TonyTheTiger (talk). Self-nominated at 00:42, 15 June 2017 (UTC).

  • Article is newly created, written neutrally and clocks at 1502 characters, so it's long enough. Image is properly licensed and used in the article. Hooks are cited inline and verified. QPQ has been attended to. Preference to ALT1. Bluesphere 07:29, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
  • It's the most interesting to me. Bluesphere 04:00, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
  • YMMV. Actually, I prefer ALT0. The ALT0 hook ref is verified and cited inline. Yoninah (talk) 21:42, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
Returning to prep per discussion at WT:DYK#Prep 6 - Camino Island. The article has an tagged empty section, and on second look, is quite short on facts per WP:DYKSG#D7. Yoninah (talk) 20:16, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
  • TonyTheTiger, the second message was due to the hook having just been pulled from prep, but not yet having had its DYK template restored to the Approved page; it was re-added to that page shortly thereafter, and is there now.
Note that I was about to call for a new reviewer, but a check of the article resulted in the removal of a review quote that made no sense in context, and a place where the source given did not support the sentence in question—the facts are different in the source from in the article. I have also struck ALT1, since the "rare departure" statement is not supported by the source, and the article only says that it's a "departure" (the source uses "vacation"). A bit more work needs to be done for the article to be accurate; also, as Yoninah noted a month ago, the article is "short on facts per WP:DYKSG#D7", and more substance is still needed. Once these are addressed, I'll be happy to call for that new reviewer. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:18, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
  • TonyTheTiger, have you actually taken a look at Grisham's bibliography? This is far from his first "departure"—he writes books that aren't legal thrillers every few years—so as a hook it's misleading (doesn't really "mark" a departure) and not all that interesting. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:26, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
Comment: The source for ALT0 does not say it is his first tour in 25 years, but that it is his first big/extensive/national tour in 25 years. (His own site doesn't have such qualifiers, however). ALT3, however, is supported by the source. --Usernameunique (talk) 05:04, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
ALT3 is supported by the source; indeed the phrase "a long car ride to Florida" is taken directly from it, and shouldn't be. Indeed, since the NYT review is just repeating Grisham's words here from somewhere (they said he "has said" that he and his wife "dreamed up" the book during that car trip), it would be best for the article and hook to find those prior statements and (presumably) additional detail, and incorporate them and their source(s) into the article and thence the hook. I have changed the phrasing, which I think is part of the issue, but I am not sure what the expectation is regarding prior statements. It is an odd directive as I understand it.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 23:40, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
  • Approving ALT4, which is interesting and cited appropriately. Otherwise relying on reviews provided by Bluesphere and Yoninah. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:15, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
