Brown Thrasher

[edit]
  • ... that the Brown Thrasher was originally nominated as the state bird of Georgia by schoolchildren in 1928, but wasn't offficaly adopted until 1970?

Created/expanded by LeftAire (talk). Self nom at 06:01, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

  • Interesting hook, but the article has not been expanded 5x. Alas, that earns it a "no for now." If it is further expanded, my vote would be changed to an emphatic "yes." Tthaas (talk) 12:57, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Put a notice on the editor's talk page, with symbol provided in the edit page, giving editor a chance to respond. Maile66
  • Using DYK Check, article was 2109 readable prose on May 16, 2012
  • Article was expanded by editor LeftAire on June 23, 2012 to 7902 readable prose
  • 5X expansion would be 10,510 readable prose
LeftAire, if you can get the expansion up to 10,510 readable prose, this can still qualify. --Maile66 (talk) 14:51, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Do I need to get this in within a certain amount of time? I might be able to start working on it on Monday, but won't say that with 100% certainty. I might need to get a hold of a few more sources. LeftAire (talk) 19:55, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
When the DYK Check is run, it says 10 days. You started this expansion on June 23. Can you get it done by July 3rd? Maile66 (talk) 20:15, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, for the late response, I've been editing over the past few days. I've made edits to the page, and I think it's ready to see if it's ready for it to be renominated. But I can't check the readable prose on my computer (I originally tried when I first edited the page, and wouldn't pull it up. Should I just nominate it anyway or get someone to look at it first? LeftAire (talk) 22:08, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
DYK check says 7918 readable prose right now. It's already nominated by being on this page. We didn't withdraw the nomination. You just need to get the prose up a lot. Figure you need an additional 2500 prose. In practical terms, that means an increase of about another one-third of exsting text. Maile66 (talk) 22:19, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
I've re-edited the page with what I've been working on over the past few days. I don't think it's quite at 10,510 yet, but it shouldn't be at 7918 anymore. I'll continue to edit as much as I can before the 3rd. LeftAire (talk) 22:38, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
BINGO! You have enough readable prose. Let me look at the whole article now and do a review for you. Maile66 (talk) 22:42, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Good to go on this 5X expansion article. The following has been checked in this review:
  • QPQ not necessary
  • Readable prose on May 16, 2012 before expansion was 2109 readable prose
  • DYK Check now confirms 5X expansion, with 11,355 readable prose
  • Hook is short enough at 144 characters, and referenced at end of sentence
  • NPOV, detailed, well-sourced and informative article
  • Duplication Detector run, no copyvio found
  • Every paragraph sourced
