Brooklyn–Battery Tunnel

[edit]
  • ... that when it opened, the Brooklyn–Battery Tunnel in New York City was the second-longest vehicular tunnel in the world? Source: NY Times 1950. "...the tunnel, second in size only to the 11,254-foot-long crossing of the Mersey River linking Birkenhead and Liverpool, England." Other articles, like this one, make it clear that this refers to vehicular tunnels)
    • ALT1:... that when it opened, the Brooklyn–Battery Tunnel in New York City was the longest vehicular tunnel in the United States? Source: Same as above. The Queensway Tunnel in England is mentioned in the article as the longest in the world.

5x expanded by Epicgenius (talk). Self-nominated at 01:36, 23 March 2018 (UTC).

  • This is an interesting hook, and well done for expanding the article. Unfortunately, the 5x expansion started on 14 March, and the nomination was filed over a week later; taking it from this version on 19 March, the prose size is 8289 bytes, which means the prose now should be 41,445 bytes - it's only 39k. Sorry. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:39, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
  • @Ritchie333: I was counting from this version (the one you're counting), which is only 7,130 characters. That is the revision made on March 14; it stayed until March 18, and I used it as my starting point. This revision, which brought the article to 8,289 characters, was made on March 18. I nominated this article on March 23, well within the seven-day limit. epicgenius (talk) 00:46, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
@Yoninah:, @The Rambling Man: - You'll know the answer for this. I think Epicgenius is right (and I'd hate to throw out a good DYK because of "teh rulez") but I want to make absolutely sure this qualifies for 5x expansion. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 08:45, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
Okay, looks like this has got consensus at the DYK talk. Right, off we go.... Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:55, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
