Biological pest control

[edit]
  • ... that a bacterium has been used in biological pest control incorporated into the crop, making the plants resistant to pests? Source: "The most effective delivery system for Bt toxins is the transgenic plant."

Improved to Good Article status by Chiswick Chap (talk) and Cwmhiraeth (talk). Nominated by Cwmhiraeth (talk) at 19:21, 15 April 2017 (UTC).

  • Recent GA checks out, QPQ done, within policy, Earwig detects no copyvios. The hook source is paywalled, but from the abstract it looks like only the specific protein toxin is being expressed in the transgenic plants, not the entire bacterium (which wouldn't make much sense anyway). This needs to be reflected in the hook. John P. Sadowski (NIOSH) (talk) 19:24, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
@John P. Sadowski (NIOSH): Good point. I have rephrased the article and am suggesting ALT2. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:43, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
I've tightened the hook a bit, spot checks reveal no additional problems. Very small nitpick: perhaps it is important to note that the proteins are toxic to pests and not to people (if it's supported by the source)? John P. Sadowski (NIOSH) (talk) 03:17, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
@John P. Sadowski (NIOSH): Were you meaning in the article or the hook? I only have access to the abstract. We could have
Best not to obscure the article name. The above slight revision will work. John P. Sadowski (NIOSH) (talk) 02:43, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
