Banton, Romblon
[edit]... that in 1936, wooden coffins dating back to the 13th or 14th century, containing skeletal remains and Southeast Asia's oldest burial cloth, were found by a team of researchers in caves in Banton, Romblon, Philippines?

- Article was improved to good article standard within 7 days of the 29th of March. Article is long enough (13640 characters). Hook is less than 200 characters (193) and interesting. Hook is properly cited and citations back up the hook. QPQ done.
- However, the page is part of a merger discussion, and, although not related to the hook, the text of the climate section is the same as the third paragraph of the final paragraph of the Geo-Physical Environment section of this page (http://www.romblonprov.gov.ph/pages.php?m=romblon_province), which is worrying from a plagiarism point of view. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Redfiona99 (talk • contribs) 21:13, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
- With the fixing of the climate section, and the solution of the merger issue, I believe that this article is suitable for DYK.Red Fiona (talk) 19:16, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote this, but I have a question about the sourcing. All 3 sources (footnotes 8, 9, 10) mention only one coffin and put all the emphasis on the cloth. (1) Could you please verify that it is "coffins" and not "coffin", and provide an inline cite for that sentence? (2) What do you think about shortening the hook, as follows:
- ALT1: ... that in 1936, Southeast Asia's oldest burial cloth was found among skeletal remains in caves in Banton, Romblon, Philippines? Yoninah (talk) 14:35, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, Yoninah! What the references meant to say was that the cloth was found in just one of the coffins. This does not mean that there are no other coffins found in the cave. A visit to the National Museum of the Philippines, where these artefacts are displayed, confirms more than one coffin. Another proof is in the main photo of the article itself, where two coffins from Ipot Cave are shown displayed at the Asi Studies Center for Culture and the Arts in Banton, Romblon. As for your suggestions, I am in favor of shortening the hook to your provided alternative. Hope this helps. — Lawrence Ruiz (talk) 15:00, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
