Arboretum Norr

Created by Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk), Victuallers (talk). Nominated by Victuallers (talk) at 12:49, 8 May 2014 (UTC).

Fixed faults and alts welcome - a nomination of a Umepedia article Victuallers (talk) 17:31, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
  • New enough and long enough. With my limited Swedish, I had to use online translation to compare with the sources, but could find no close paraphrasing or copyvios. Image is suitably licensed for front page. Every para is referenced. But, "important" does not appear in the article and could constitute original research. I have suggested an ALT1 hook idea (tweaking welcome) which is better supported by the article. Also, QPQ awaited. Edwardx (talk) 08:44, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the review @Edwardx. I have modded the main hook to say significant as per your suggestion. Your alt is fine by me and it does explain why it is significant. Can someone tick Edwards alt? Cheers Victuallers (talk) 12:36, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
  • As now else has come along, I will give a tick to ALT1 and strike the original hook. Edwardx (talk) 11:51, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi all! Thanks for nominating this. For what it's worth, it's based on the translation of the Swedish version and I would feel bad about copying it entirely. I'm not sure how CC-BY-SA treats translations but the credit should really go to the Swedish article writer... Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (Message me) 12:01, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

  • Translations from other language Wikipedias are eligible for DYK. No reason why you can't add the original writer as author3. I've done a DYK nom before with four authors. It's not a zero sum game! Edwardx (talk) 11:55, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
  • I don't see any inline source citation that supports "significant for its far northern latitude". Yes, it's far north (but not the most far north arboretum in Sweden, apparently), but I didn't see any claims for particular significance. One will need to be added for the hook to be supported as DYK needs. Also, it's "European Capital of Culture", not City. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:27, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
Capital of Culture is the latest name, but the idea was originally called City of Culture and it is well known under that title. Google still gives a lot more hits for the original name. However I have changed it as its a minor point. I'm not sure anyone claimed it was the most far north, but I guess someone might interpret it that way. To address that point I have respecified its significance: Victuallers (talk) 15:00, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
  • ALT2 is supported by inline sourcing and approved for DYK use. Striking ALT1. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:36, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
