Adenia hondala

[edit]
  • Reviewed: Barbara P. McCarthy
  • Comment: This is an expansion of an article in need of attention which I came across when patrolling new articles.

5x expanded by Cwmhiraeth (talk) and Firos ak (talk). Nominated by Cwmhiraeth (talk) at 09:07, 10 October 2018 (UTC).

  • @Cwmhiraeth:. Eligible, neutral, no plagiarism issues, QPQ done, hook interesting. Hook information in article but should hook say Ayurveda rather than herbal? Expanded on 8 October... I work out expanded 4.1 X unless you can show how it is 5X. The topic was well worth expanding and is very interesting. Whispyhistory (talk) 11:37, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
  • Thanks @Whispyhistory: I have changed the hook as suggested. According to the "page count" tool that I use, the article was 417B before expansion and 2241B afterwards. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:34, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
  • Re-calculated, thanks. Character count (415) before and (2237) now, which makes it more than 5X. Not sure what happened before. Thinking of hook; Its tubers are poisonous, yet its seeds are used to treat poisoning.[1]...If you can think of a more interesting hook, since its not surprising that herbal/Ayurvedic medicine involves a plant. As it stands, all ok. As always, a delight to review your articles. Whispyhistory (talk) 21:35, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but I agree with Whispyhistory that it's not so hooky that traditional medicine uses plants. Do you have another hook suggestion? Yoninah (talk) 20:10, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
@Yoninah: Is this any better? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 20:27, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
  • Or:
  • ALT2: ... that while the tubers of Adenia hondala are poisonous, they have antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which can help treat skin disorders? Yoninah (talk) 20:40, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
ALT2 is fine. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 21:06, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
  • Thanks @Yoninah: and @Cwmhiraeth:....Suggest keep hook=article=source....note that source says "tubers are poisonous, antimicrobial, antibacterial , used for treating skin diseases." We can omit "antibacterial" as the word "antimicrobial" covers both. May be better not to assume it is the antimicrobial property that helps skin disease. We only know that the tubers are used to treat skin disease. ..."while the tubers of Adenia hondala are poisonous, they have antimicrobial properties and are used to treat skin disorders?"....this is in article too, or another hook around its poisonous fruit's resemblance to the fruits of the passion flower which has led children to eat it mistakenly." (from the article) Whispyhistory (talk) 08:48, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
@Whispyhistory: How about ALT3? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:58, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
  • ALT3: ... that children have mistaken the poisonous fruits of Adenia hondala for those of the passion flower?
  • I like it! Yoninah (talk) 12:47, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you both...to ALT3...in article and source and has a following inline citation. I like it too and a quick search also found [2] and [3]. Whispyhistory (talk) 14:06, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
