63rd Street Lines
[edit]- ... that the 63rd Street Line, a three-station subway line in New York City, was described as a "tunnel to nowhere" and took 20 years to complete? Sources: (1) NY Times, 1989. "Twenty years after its conception, a new subway-line extension - dubbed the subway to nowhere by its critics -made a ceremonial maiden run yesterday, rumbling under the East River from Manhattan to Roosevelt Island and into Queens. Regular service was to start today on the $868 million line, the first subway to the island." (2) FHWA. "Dubbed the "tunnel to nowhere" because it terminated one stop into Queens, the partially finished line was put into service in 1989 by NYCT."

- ALT1 is good to go. The 20 years mentioned in the first proposed hook seem a bit superfluous to the main point about its lack of connections. Article was nominated within a sufficient period of time from its promotion to GA. Article is stable and neutral; does not violate policy. ALT1 hook is interesting, is supported by inline citation, and is formatted correctly. Article is long enough. QPQ completed. Ergo Sum 17:50, 11 July 2018 (UTC)
