Cup 1873–2017: The Complete Results- ALT1:... that in the first round of the 1873–74 Scottish Cup, John McPherson scored the first Scottish Cup hat-trick as Clydesdale defeated Granville 6–0? - Reviewed: I have not nominated an article for DYK before so I will familiarise myself with the reviewing guide before looking at another nomination. Will post here once done.

- I have struck ALT0 as it's over the 200 character limit for hooks. In its place, I am suggesting shortened versions below:
- ALT2 ... that of the 16 teams to enter the 1873–74 Scottish Cup, only Dumbarton, Kilmarnock and Queen's Park still regularly compete in the competition?
- ALT2a ... that of the 16 teams to enter the inaugural Scottish Cup, only Dumbarton, Kilmarnock and Queen's Park still regularly compete in the competition?
- In addition, ALT1 is a bit too complicated and could probably just be limited to mentioning that McPherson scored the first Scottish Cup hat-trick, without mentioning the final score. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:54, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for your feedback, I'll remember that for future nominations. From your comments, I think ALT2a would work best. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 11:31, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- Date and length fine. However @Stevie fae Scotland:, I'm not seeing the hook fact in the article, specifically the part where it says those 3 still compete. QPQ not needed as this is his first nomination. No close paraphrasing. Please ping me when that is done and I will have another look. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 08:09, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
- @The C of E: Thanks. The hook is in the second paragraph of the teams section (1873–74 Scottish Cup#Teams). It's been shortened from

so it's not too long. I can alter that paragraph so there is a sentence that is exactly the same as the hook if you would like. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 10:23, 7 August 2021 (UTC)- @Stevie fae Scotland: It needs an inline citation then. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 10:28, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
