Template:DFDb company/doc

Description

{{DFDb company}} is a template used to generate an external link to an entry for a company in the Danish Film Database. In an article it should only be used in the "External links" section.

For a work (film/movie, TV or Web program/series, video game, etc.), use {{DFDb title}}.

For a person, use {{DFDb name}}.

Usage

The required parameter is the ID number. The template then uses the article title as the anchor text:

* {{DFDb company|ID}}

To have the link text be other than the article name, use second parameter:

* {{DFDb company|ID|Name}}

This is necessary when adding a Danish Film Database link to an article about somebody or something other than the linked company (for example, if you include the Danish Film Database link for Zentropa on a talk page, you must specify Zentropa's name as the text for the link).

Detailed instructions

1. Copy and paste one of the options above into the article's External links section
2. Go to Danish Film Database and search for the company you want (say, Zentropa; you'll reach http://www.dfi.dk/Service/English/Films-and-industry/Factsheet.aspx?ss_q=Zentropa)
3. Click on the correct Zentropa in the list (usually the first); this will bring up the page http://www.dfi.dk/faktaomfilm/selskab/en/107463.aspx?id=107463
4. Copy only the number (here, "107463")
5. Replace "ID" in the template code with the number

For the first option above, you'll then have

* {{DFDb company|107463}} resulting in:

• DFDb company/doc in the Danish Film Database

Note that the link text is the same as the title of the page the template is used on; outside the page Zentropa, use the second option:

Replace "ID" with the number and "Name" with "Zentropa"

* {{DFDb company|107463|Zentropa}} results in:

• Zentropa in the Danish Film Database
