This template is a shortcut for citing various copies of the Roman Missal.

Adding a new missal

If you edit this template to add a new missal, you'll need to give the missal an ID code, which should be created with components added in this order:

  1. A two-letter code (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2) indicating the country for which the missal is intended, if applicable (e.g. us for United States).
  2. A two-letter code (ISO 639-1) indicating the language (e.g. en for English), only if this is a translation of a typical edition.
  3. Letters or numbers indicating the edition, version, or promulgation year (e.g. 3 meaning third edition, or a year such as 1962).
  4. A few letters indicating the publisher, normally as an acronym.
  5. The year of publication, only if this is needed to distinguish the missal from other editions that have the same values for the previous parameters.

For consistency, the missal ID should be all lowercase and should contain only letters and numbers.
