Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya, established in 1948,[1] is one of the oldest colleges in Purba Medinipur district, West Bengal, India. It offers undergraduate courses in arts, commerce and sciences. It is affiliated to Vidyasagar University.[2]
History
[edit]When the college opened in 1948, it was affiliated under the University of Calcutta.[citation needed] Later, the affiliation was shifted under Vidyasagar University.
Location
[edit]The college is located in the heart of Tamluk in the Purba Medinipur district.
Departments and courses
[edit]The college offers different undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the science, arts, and commerce branch. This college aims at imparting education to the undergraduates of lower- and middle-class people of Tamluk and its adjoining areas.
Science
[edit]The science faculty consists of the departments of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Economics, and Nutrition.
Arts and Commerce
[edit]The arts and commerce faculty consists of the departments of Bengali, English, Sanskrit, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Geography, Education, Physical Education, Music, and Commerce (Accounting and Finance).
Accreditation
[edit]The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).[1] It was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and awarded A grade.[3]
