[edit]

The language of this page is not appropiate for an encyclopedia entry. It sounds like it was written by a child or someone without a mastery of English. For example, "He was a big zionist" [sic]. That is just a sample of the problems with the grammar and usage in this article. Would it be possible for someone more versed in this topic to edit this article and correct the mistakes?

Problems

[edit]

Large parts of this, adulatory, text are written from the perspective of people in or alligned with the Merkaz HaRav position, i.e., WP:Promo.

  • This means we have stretches of pure WP:OR. I.e.

But Talmudic Sages taught[1] that the redemption will take place "little by little", like the spreading light of dawn in the morning sky. This indicates that the redemption of Israel is a process that advances in stages.

  1. ^ Jerusalem Talmud, Berakhot 1:1

The but there is meant to imply that the general tradition of Torah rabbinical thought, hinted at in the previous line, is incorrect, and the contrary assertion is made by citing a single passage in the Talmud (b) as if it were the last word. Everyone knows there is no such thing as 'the last word' in Talmudic scholarship. I have removed the passage for those reasons.Nishidani (talk) 05:44, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have removed this undocumented, and, logically, poorly formed sentence.

Numerous yeshivas in Israel follow his teachings, primarily Mercaz HaRav.

In English prose that is dumb. 'Numerous dogschools follow Tamar Geller's teachings, primarily Tamar Geller's Loved World School.Nishidani (talk) 14:57, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Class rating

[edit]

One works, and the devil take the hindmost. But there is some anomaly in classing this as of low importance in the category Judaism at least. The evidence that the subject had a profound impact on the formation of people who pushed to settle a half a million Jews throughout the West Bank is very strong, and widely sourced. So, like his father, he has a notable historical significance. Still, I personally don't give a rodent's rectum for these ratings. It's no longer C class, in any case, since it's now GA by any standard, and anyone is cordially invited to make a DYK out of any of the numerous curiosities in the article.Nishidani (talk) 17:06, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Better profile picture

[edit]

There is a nice picture here: File:תמונת הרצי"ה.jpg

Can someone please replace? Thanks! 2A01:6500:B107:A784:F968:D28:68:2779 (talk) 08:51, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

please change "image = הרב צבי יהודה קוק עם אריאל שרון וגאולה כהן בעלייה הראשונה של אלון מורה (cropped).jpg" in the tamplate to "image = תמונת הרצי"ה.jpg" 2A01:6500:B107:A784:F968:D28:BF:E149 (talk) 19:36, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I have fulfilled the edit request. As an aside while the image is clearer due to less shadowing on the face, it could do with a crop IMO since the added sides means it ends up smaller. Nil Einne (talk) 15:14, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Nil Einne, thanks! 2A01:6500:B107:A784:F968:D28:30:1401 (talk) 17:25, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Biased Introduction

[edit]

  • What I think should be changed (format using {{textdiff}}): The use of the word "militants" in the introduction.
  • Why it should be changed: The third introductory paragraph makes it seem like the military education was received at the the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva. This is untrue and bad paraphrasing of the source material. Mercaz HaRav provides strictly religious education and does not provide any military training. The source article itself is somewhat dated and not attuned to the modern context.

The paragraph should say "where hundreds of future IDF soldiers, opposed to territorial compromises and promoting Israeli settlement of the Occupied Palestinian Territories, received their religious education."

  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button): [1]
