Unsourced and obviously spurious information - specifically the 'voice casts' and the claim that the TV programme will be narrated by a Peel P50 automobile - keeps coming back.
However, an audio Compact disc release of the story book was recorded on 2 December 2018, featuring a host of famous voices, including David Holt. [1]
NOTE: Sir Lenny Henry was meant to be the narrator, the character who conveys the story to the audience off-screen. However, Peel P50 has taken over this role and will be featured on the Zog UK DVD release, and in the 2018 Christmas Day broadcast.
Voice Cast
[edit]- Peel P50 as the narrator, the character who conveys the story book to the audience off-screen.
- David Holt as The King, Pearl's uncle who lives in the castle and at one point seizes Pearl and locks her up in the castle.
- Jane Horrocks as the mermaid, the character who appears at first with red skin on her rock beside the sea.
- Rob Brydon as the lion, the animal character who lives in a rocky cave and appears to start off with a bout of "the flu".
- Jim Broadbent as the Unicorn, the animal character who appears at first with "an extra horn" on his head.
- Patsy Ferran as Princess Pearl, the king's daughter who, at one point, gets locked up inside a castle.
- Hugh Skinner as Zog the dragon, the main character in the story who is good at flying and not quite so understanding.
- Lenny Henry as the doctor, the male character who speaks, at one point, with a croaking sound as he examines Pearl's uncle.
- Frances De La Tour, Julia Sawalha, Nina Sosanya, Tom Hollander and Martin Clunes as the mermaid's sea snail friends, the characters who eventually allow Zog and the doctors to collect their Slime trails as Ingredients (film) for Pearl's uncle's cure.
- Kit Harrington as Sir Gadabout the knight, the character who gently cuts off the unicorn's unwanted horn in the Unicorn scene. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Muktuk Wolfsbreath (talk • contribs) 16:23, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
