Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... please look at references before submitting for speedy deletion request.. --SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 17:00, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A small regional newspaper and another wiki site don't really provide good criteria for showing notability. Furthermore, even if the article is found to be notable, it needs a major rewrite because it's not very encyclopedic. ~Darth StabroTalk/Contribs 19:42, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at Wikipedia:Credible claim of significance
Two methods to identify:
1 a statement in the article that attributes noteworthiness:
The person in this article has an illness that makes playing an instrument difficult and has rather managed to build a good body of work in his music despite the initial doubts of health specialists, which has allowed him to appear in several media. In addition, the information present is all verifiable.
2 information written about the subjects in reliable sources:
It can be found on reliable news sites such as La Voix du Nord, l'Observateur, Muséanima... if this person has no significance of importance why does the media bother writing about this person at best to cover topics that might be more interesting to their readers?
A "small" regional newspaper? La Voix du Nord has one page on six other Wikipedias in addition to here.. not bad for a "small newspaper" and concerning the wiki site I imagine that you are referring to Wikifamouspeople, not everyone can contribute there, only a small team of editors and not everyone can be on it.
With all this I don't think that the request for speedy deletion is eligible.
You say that the article should be rewritten, I wrote it based on the sources and I detail as best as possible to avoid adding unnecessary text, the goal is to also retransmit the information but do not hesitate to tell me what could be improved in terms of writing. The Wikipedia article itself says that La Voix du Nord is a regional newspaper.
The article's English grammar is not encyclopedic and it includes many details that are unnecessary for an person of his significance and make it seem more like a PR piece attempting to cover every aspect of his life. ~Darth StabroTalk/Contribs 22:12, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I never disputed that La Voix du Nord was a regional newspaper. I am quite surprised, I wrote based on the sources, I wrote information adapted for each section as I usually do, do not hesitate to correct and rewrite the parts that need to be reformulated. For what it's worth, @Darth Stabro, without looking too deeply into the sources, I agree with your assessment about the subject's notability. But if there's possibility for doubt - and there is, when a subject has been written about in reliable sources - it should have some opportunity for wider discussion. In this case I'd suggest AfD over PROD since SparklingBlueMoon obviously believes that the subject is notable and will contest the PROD. -- asilvering (talk) 21:16, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that makes sense. And while standards may differ over there, it's interesting to note that French Wikipedia has deleted the article as non-notable three times. ~Darth StabroTalk/Contribs 22:02, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
