Name

[edit]

What should be the spelling of this man's name? Zeki or Zekki, and should we use "paşa" or transliterated "pasha"? We should make some deal on this and then make the redirect pages from alternative names to the article. Jova (talk) 10:30, 13 March 2008 (UTC) Name is Zeki, there is no such name as Zekki! You are right, someone more savvy than me should rename the article and add a redirect from Zekki. I personally like Paşa, which is the real and authentic spelling and it is perfectly feasible in the Latin alphabet key Wikipedia has graciously provided here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.56.118.177 (talk) 01:02, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Zekki PashaZeki Pasha – per WP:COMMONNAME

When we compare Zeki Pasha and Zekki Pasha (including other Zakki/Zeki Pashas), Zeki is slightly more coomon than Zekki.

Now, since Zekki/Zekki Pasha is known with the Balkan Wars, shall we add the word "Balkan"

It's not very clear which one is common name. But it's clearly the fact that well-known specialists (military historians) prefer Zeki to Zekki.

  • Richard C. Hall, The Balkan Wars, 1912-1913: prelude to the First World War - Zeki Pasha
  • Mesut Uyar, Edward J. Erickson, A military history of the Ottomans: from Osman to Atatürk - Zeki Pasha
  • Edward J. Erickson, Defeat in detail: the Ottoman Army in the Balkans, 1912-1913 - Zeki Paşa
