The name Sonnar.
The name "Sonnar" was actually a tradename owned by Nettel Camerawerk in Sontheim am Neckar. Sontheim has the Sun on its Coat of Arms. The Sonnar lens back then was a 4.5 Tessar-type. Nettel merged with Contessa Camerawerke in 1919. Contessa-Nettel was later one of the companies that merged to form Zeiss Ikon in 1926.
