Contested deletion (2011)

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because of the existence of articles porter robinson and other producer pages that are on par with Zedd. He is currently touring with Deadmau5, one of the most influential producers in electronic music today, and he [Anton] has been readily cited as a key figure in the electrohouse, complextro, and progessive house genres. — Dywtkas (talk) 04:10, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The importance you've asserted here is that if Deadmau5, not that of Zaslavski. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 05:45, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As much as I enjoy Zedd's music, he is most definately not notable enough for his own wikipedia page. Just look at how minimal this page is and think what you can add to it; you'll most likely reach the conclusion there isn't much. May I suggest a second deletion attempt? Requested move (2011)

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Page moved to Zedd (producer). Vegaswikian (talk) 05:10, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Anton ZaslavskiZedd – Zedd is known primarily by his stage name not by Anton Zaslavski, therefore this page should be moved to Zedd. Similar artists such as Skrillex, deadmau5, & Wolfgang Gartner have their stage names used as their page titles not their birth names. Thus "Zedd" resembles titles for similar articles, precisely identifies the subject, is short, is natural, and recognizable (the five principles of article titling). ElishaZG (talk) 00:23, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think that this person is better know as Zedd than every other entry on the dab page because if not the page should be at Zedd (producer) or something.--70.24.211.105 (talk) 03:14, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Production - ARTPOP

[edit]

Is there any confirmation that he is the producer of G.U.Y? (Girl Under You) Is it even on ARTPOP?

Please help.

Vincexgaga (talk) 01:56, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

From what I'm seeing via (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/G.U.Y.) he's directly cited as co-writer of the song as well as in the producer credits. VCBraska (talk) 16:16, 21 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This page doesn't actually mention G.U.Y. at all? What is it are you asking for confirmation on? Seems that there are as-many-sources-as-you'd-like here: Google News for '"Girl Under You" zedd'. Nikthestunned 16:40, 21 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New rename proposal (2016)

– There was a previous requested move for this, but that was before, for example, Zedd won a Grammy award and produced songs that topped the charts. I think he's a clear primary topic for the term "Zedd," given that the alternatives are relatively insignificant fictional characters that are unlikely to have the same usage/long-term significance. Unsure about the birthday

[edit]

I'm not sure about Zedd's birthday so will someone please check this diff https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Zedd&curid=32971765&diff=746745370&oldid=746596134 and see if his birthday is actually on the 2nd and not 3rd? - ReZawler (talkcontribs) 08:53, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Create a List of awards and nominations for Zedd page

[edit]

Has 5 awards (Grammy,MTV, Latin AMA, Teen Choice Award and a Billboard) the big deal and not like your little stupid awards that Little Mix has and 52 nominations, I think he really deserves a page! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rodrigo1198 (talkcontribs) 22:49, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Early years

[edit]

As I was reading through this it states that Zedd was very early on a deathcore drummer. Wouldn't that be acceptable to put in career as well as "deathcore (very early)" in the genres with associated acts the band he played in? If not in genre then at least the band in associated acts NellyOriginPMOD (talk) 02:36, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal: German instead of German-Russian

[edit]

Since Zedd was four when he immigrated to Germany, and was thus raised in the country I think we should classify him as just German... Just like Rita Ora is considered British even if she's from Kosovo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:186:4301:20E:D559:1D80:E42A:AB24 (talk) 05:17, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. He calls himself German on Twitter here and here. Rolling Stone also refers to him as German a few times [1] [2] [3], Billboard does so here, and AllMusic does so here. SPIN calls him a Russian-born German musician here, and I think that's the best way to phrase it. 83.248.186.87 (talk) 19:35, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It says Russian German again. Does Russia allows dual citizenship? Kay girl 97 (talk) 22:43, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

He says he's German (not Russian) in a tweet here. --83.250.95.80 (talk) 08:57, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Even if he had dual citizenship it would not be relevant per MOS:CONTEXTBIO. He's lived in Germany since he was a child, began his career playing in a German band, identifies as German and sources seem to generally agree on calling him "German". Birthplace in the lede sentence should usually be avoided per WP:ETHNICITY. I have changed it to just "German" following the evidence provided and the context of his life. Zedd doesn't do electro house anymore

[edit]

Therefore, in the "Genres" property of "Background information," there should be an "(early) right after "electro house" because he moved away from house music to hardbass (what about future bass?). WorldQuestioneer (talk) 02:29, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
