Zechariah ben Jehoiada lived during the reign of King Joash, not Nebuchadnezzar

[edit]

Hi, After trying to edit other Wikipedia articles unsuccessfully, I am a bit gun-shy to try again. So, would someone who is the moderator of this article please see II Chronicles 24:1 and II Chronicles 24:20-22 (whole chapter can be found here: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Chronicles+24&version=KJV ) to see that Zechariah ben Jehoiada lived during the reign of King Joash, whom William F. Albright has dated to 837–800 BC, while E. R. Thiele offers the dates 835–796 BC.[3] See https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Jehoash_of_Judah.

This is about 200 years prior to Nebuchadnezzar's seige of Jerusalem, during the reign of King Zedekiah, dated to 587 BC. See https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Siege_of_Jerusalem_(587_BC)

If someone would please change the wording to reflect these facts, I would really appreciate it.

I would do it myself, but after having quotes from the Bible be rejected and told it was not verifiable for me to make the changes from quoting direct sources (I did not quote another scholar saying the same thing I was saying), I am not quite sure how to make changes to articles that have wrong information in them, according to primary sources.

I did it myself. The historical facts can at least attest to the genealogy being correct, whether or not Wikipedia agrees with the Bible, so there is no way that he could have been around during the siege of Nebuchadnezzar when he was martyred even before the Assyrian conquest of the northern kingdom. Babylon broke free of Assyrian control and eventually beat it. Assyria was probably near its height of power during the time of Zechariah. 2601:245:8200:6646:3C2A:A24A:B1B9:51E8 (talk) 02:55, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
