Designation
[edit]This weapon in US use would be called a Designated Marksman Rifle, However
In Yugoslavia and in Iraq (yes Iraq Uses it and manufactures a copy) it is a true sniper rifle.
as to these countries it regularly is used at a range greater than their PKM or Machine Gun Range of a squad.
It is used to snipe, while ranges that the US would use its snipers is reserved for Motars or Recoiless Rifles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.247.141.177 (talk • contribs)
This is not true. Unlike the real sniper, M-76 is in Serbian called "frontovski snajper" or "frontline sniper rifle". It's tactical purpose is a precise fire support for infantry squad. Note that JNA (Yugoslav Army) was equiped with much more acurate M-69 bolt action rifle for real sniping purposes.

Ballistics
[edit]"Though the M76 fires its bullets at a relatively modest 730 m/s (2395 ft/s) muzzle velocity, the 7.92 x 57 IS cartridge loaded with aerodynamic efficient 12.8 gram (198 gr) military sS ball bullets still offers a supersonic reach of ≈ 910 m (995 yd) under ICAO Standard Atmosphere conditions at sea level (air density ρ = 1.225 kg/m³)."
The performance of the bullet is more dependent the characteristics of the cartridge, not the firearm, in most cases. Sonar610 (talk) 06:54, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

List of users or of former users
[edit]@Karen Kho: I completely disagree with your removal of Croatia in the list of users. It is commonly considered that both former and current users have to be listed. See for instance Gewehr 98#Users: most of the listed countries are former users. And, by the way, you have to provide a source.--Le Petit Chat (talk) 15:56, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
