Zantedeschia aethiopica measurements
[edit]Author, pls. check your conversions between metric system and inch/feet. 3 inches is 90 mm, not 9000mm and the plant is 1,25 meters tall not 1-2.5 meters. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.10.98.226 (talk) 13:03, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Name of country of origin not mentioned?
[edit]Hello, to whom it may concern or anyone who is more of an expert on plants than I could ever hope to be: The fact is not mentioned that this flower is the national flower of Ethiopa, I think, as stated on Wikipedia page about the Floral emblems of countries. What is more Ethiopia is incorporated into the name of the flower itself, Zantedeschia aethiopica, but then only Southern Africa and a few other places are mentioned where the flower is endemic. Ethiopia is, of course, not a part of Southern Africa. Mieliestronk (talk) 23:16, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
- The specific epithet aethiopica is regularly used to mean "African" rather than specifically "Ethiopian" in Botanical Latin, as per the article Aethiopia. It seems likely that it's naturalised in Ethiopia as well as other East African countries, but we would need a reference to add this, as also that it's the national flower of Ethiopia. - Peter, thank you, and sorry, it just goes to show that I know very little about botany. What is more, the only reference I can supply of it being the national flower of Ethiopia, is the previously mentioned Wikipedia article on the Floral emblems of countries -- and even there it is not clear to me where the actual info was found.
