Speedy Deletion !?
[edit]The subject is clearly notable, Zafer İlken is the current president of the İzmir Institute of Technology. Don't you read the article before putting deletion tags !? Iytenet (talk) 12:58, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't believe that simply being the president of an Institute of technology is sufficent enough to be classed as notable, if the person has done notable things in order to become president, possibly. But these things are not established in the article. Printer222 (talk) 13:10, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'm gonna disagree with you. I don't know about your country but, being a rector is a very noble achievement in Turkey. Rectors are the second important person in the protocol list after the governor of the province. I'm not saying this this article is sufficient, that's why it's marked as "stub". There are more stub Turkish rectors in wikipedia such as Hüseyin Faruk Karadoğan. Iytenet (talk) 13:26, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
If there is more information that makes this person notable, add it. But as it stands i dont believe that simply being the head of a college is not sufficent, the article doesnt state why the person is important in my oppinon. But you are right cultural difference make this difficult. Printer222 (talk) 13:43, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- While being the president of an Institute of technology may not be sufficent enough to be classed as notable, I believe that it does make him important. Per WP:INSPECTOR, don't be too quick to delete potentially good articles. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 15:48, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
