Not with the Giants
[edit]He is not with the Giants. He is with Sacramento. In the Giants organization. This should be fixed in the lede. 2603:7000:2143:8500:E501:7AD3:DEA4:30D8 (talk) 18:49, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- He is with the Giants organization on the 40-man roster.. players are promoted and demoted all the time throughout the season and we do not need to keep a transaction log of all of that activity. His currently being in the minors is not a significant thing to mention in the lead... that is not how it is done with any current players. Spanneraol (talk) 19:59, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for responding. But -- isn't it the case that we have others on the 40-man roster, who are in Sacramento, as to which we say in the lede "in the San Francisco Giants organization." Like Randy Rodriguez and Ford Proctor. If that is the case, just being on the 40-man, while being in the minors, does not appear to be the test. Perhaps there is more to this distinction. But just being on the 40-man does not seem to be it. --2603:7000:2143:8500:61D4:D96B:D402:979F (talk) 20:12, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
- The lead says he is a player for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball which is accurate for players on the 40 man roster and is different from players on minor league contracts which do get the "organization" distinction.. When you are on the 40 you are part of the union and your pay is different.. you are considered part of the official MLB roster.. players are brought up and sent down many times a season. The difference with those other guys you mention is that they have not yet played in the major leagues. Spanneraol (talk) 20:25, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
- Very helpful. Thanks. So the deciding factor is "on the 40-man, whether or not on the active roster, PLUS has played in the major leagues." Understood, now. 2603:7000:2143:8500:61D4:D96B:D402:979F (talk) 23:19, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
