BLP issues

[edit]

I was going to do some serious chopping due to WP:BLP issues with unsourced negative claims but it seems that the claims are consistent with the documentary that is wiki-linked. The documentary should be cited as the source then. --Alfadog 06:26, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Writing of her first name

[edit]

You use the cyrillic letter Ю. Transliterated that would be "Ju" not "Yu". Isn't there something wrong then? ~ Soulslayer (from German Wikipedia)

I did further research. On their official website her name is written like that: Юля. Because of that I also changed it in the article. - Soulslayer

Requested move

[edit]

There should have been a discussion place here.

Discussion

[edit]

A quick Google gives 69,700 English ghits to Yulia and only 39,100 English ghits to Julia. That's not a big difference (the difference is bigger if you don't restrict it to English) but it certainly doesn't support a move to Julia. Andrewa (talk) 13:20, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also involves improper cut and paste move

[edit]

A look at the history of the Julia Volkova redirect shows that the current article name at "Yulia Volkova" is the result of an improper cut and paste move.

Furthermore, it was sloppily done, with a talk page remaining at Talk:Julia Volkova separate and distinct from this talk page. Gene Nygaard (talk) 17:57, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yep... lots to sort out. Andrewa (talk) 13:20, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

In the biography, her first name is used and her surname is used as well. Shouldn't it be changed to just one because it looks messy. 19:36, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Good idea. I changed them all to just her surname, as the Wikipedia help pages recommend.Ariadne55 (talk) 21:10, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Revisions

[edit]

I tried to clean up the article and give citations for many of the statements. I also took out the section on children because they are already mentioned in the article. There are some things I would like to ask about though: Is there a link that states her son's name is Samir? There was no citation and I never saw an article, but if someone has confirmation of this, please add it in or drop the website here. Also about the vocal cyst, there was an interview where Yulia said her voice became different after she had her first child due to some kind of acid reflux during pregnancy (or something like that) and didn't mention anything about surgery. I also read somewhere that medicine healed up her throat and she avoided having surgery. So if anyone has any citations for those two things, please speak up because I think it needs to be incorporated into the article, but I am just not sure on some things. Also, if anything else is wrong with what I did, please reply. Thx. Megshere (talk) 00:52, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yulia or Julia?

[edit]

She started with her solo career with name "Julia Volkova" (juliavolkova.com, @JuliaVolkova on twitter) są I think this should be name of this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.11.122.87 (talk) 13:40, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's true. JuliaVolkova.us says: Julia Volkova is a 25-year-old Russian singer. She was born as Юля Олеговна Волкова (Yulia Olegovna Volkova) on February 20, 1985 in Moscow, Russia. She is currently recording her debut solo album. - so Julia Volkova should be main article. Like Lady Gaga is for Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta.
