Publicist edits

I am moving the two posts below from my talk page. Please continue the conversation here. TJRC (talk) 14:30, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

As Yuja's publicist, and at the request of Yuja, I am attempting to simplify her entry. But each time I do so it gets reverted to the original text, which is maybe a bit too elaborate in some sections but sparse in others. Can you let me know what it is that your find important on the current page and I will try to work whatever it is in to my entry? Thanks. 24.103.241.245 (talk) 15:01, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi, edits by Yuja or her publicist represent a conflict of interest. See WP:COI. Also, Wikipedia is not a direct marketing vehicle. Making anonymous edits to replace entire articles written over months with your unreferenced and un-Wikified marketing text is not acceptable. Any of Yuja's major accomplishments or performances that are not already in the article can be added, provided they are properly referenced. But please do not delete valid content. The changes you made to the James Conlon article were appropriate since they updated facts about his Juilliard residency, but if you are also related to or work for him, editing his article can also be a conflict of interest. Debuts

Can someone help cleanup the debut section? There are various types of debut's, which include but are not limited to recital debuts, competition debuts, and professional debuts. Her professional debut was actually in 2005. (as reported on her own web page).BellsFromSeychelles (talk) 17:59, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

page move

This page was moved from Yuja Wang to Wang Yuja. Although "Wang Yuja" is the way the name is presented in Chinese, in English, the surname is last. Wang records under the name "Yuja Wang," not "Wang Yuja," news reports, performance materials, etc. all use the name as "Yuja Wang." This is a case where "people whose Chinese name is familiar but with English ordering (for example, Wen Ho Lee). In this case, the primary entry should be under the English ordering with a redirect from the Chinese ordering," WP:NC-CHINA. The page should be moved back. TJRC (talk) 23:49, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

There being no objection, I have moved the page back. TJRC (talk) 00:37, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Italic title

How is an italic title for this page any necessary? It contravenes WP:ITALICS, but I think I should ask before removing it. --Bryce (talk | contribs) 10:54, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Agreed; this looks like an unintended side-effect from the infoboxes for her albums. I've corrected it. TJRC (talk) 17:54, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. For a moment I couldn't find where it was! --Bryce (talk | contribs) 12:28, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Recordings

Can someone add more information on the listed debut recording? Not the one by DG, but the one before (if there is one, as it is currently indicated in the list)? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.1.221.194 (talk) 14:08, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

I have looked for any information on this and can find nothing other than an occasional reference to the existence of the CD. If it were not for those occasional references, I would have deleted its mention here. TJRC (talk) 17:14, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, it is a little weird that there should exist a CD from 14 years back? This would be a huge time gap! Can someone please look up and link those "occasional references" to the existence of this early CD? It's really quite unbelievable. But, of course, IF this CD indeed DOES exist, I'd buy it immediately and happily...... :-) 85.3.52.67 (talk) 14:45, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
It is odd. She would have been -- what, eight years old? -- at the time. Nonetheless:
  • "Wang released her very début CD in 1995...." [1]
  • "She released her debut CD in 1995 and has received critical acclaim in the press and from the music community wherever she has performed." [2]
  • "Yuja Wang’s debut CD was released in 1995. " [3]

Funny. I challenge anyone to find that album!! Those sources all pull information from an original source that was incorrect. This mystery album does not exist.BellsFromSeychelles (talk) 17:50, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Is there any reason for this unknown album being kept in the article ? Zandr4[Kupopo ?] 13:39, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Yes; because it is documented in reliable sources. TJRC (talk) 16:51, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Only one source, one is a copy of the other. And nothing official, just one website... Sound like a legend. And the second one of the list is called Debuts album everywhere, and is said to be the first one on many websites. Zandr4[Kupopo ?] 08:39, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
There was also the interview with Wang on the Musicweb site, which is now gone, and which was removed as a dead link (which it really shouldn't have been). The lead editor in removing the reference was User:BellsFromSeychelles, who, as a blocked sockpuppet, doesn't really have a lot of credibility. He claims to have contacted Wang's publicist, but 1) he doesn't have any credibility; 2) that's original research in any event; and 3) the publicist is obviously setting up Wang as debuting with the big-name label Deutsche Grammophon. I have no trouble at all believing that Wang would have had a small label in her home country put out a disc when she was younger. I don't see any reason to doubt the interview and other cites. TJRC (talk) 23:30, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm going to delete the mention of the 1995 album, for a couple of reasons. First, no one but me is speaking up for its retention; I know a consensus when I see one. Second, we're not asserting this to be a complete discography; so it's not going to hurt anything to omit an album that we know so little about. However, I do want to tone down the use of "debut" with refer to the first DG album. Without this entry in the discog, it will give the false impression that the "debut DG" album is a debut album, recorded by DG. I'm assuming there are no objections to this. TJRC (talk) 20:13, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
My goal was not to make you delete this mention. I wrote the article on Y. Wang on fr:Wp and when I compare with this one, I looked for references for the very first album, which I have not found. So I came here to know what the writers of this article were based on. Still, if someone found a link of this interwiew, I would be intersted in. Zandr4[Kupopo ?] 13:16, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
I've reworked the discography section, and include the reports of the 1995 CD, noting that little information is available. I've also added a lot more detail on the individual tracks. TJRC (talk) 23:37, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Yuja's new recording of Rachmaninov Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini Op. 43 and Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 in C minor Op. 18 lead by Claudio Abbado has been released by Deutsche Grammophon and needs to be added to her discography. I don't feel confident doing that and hope someone will take up the task. Product number B0015338-02 GH. user:wje37fcsm —Preceding undated comment added 20:09, 28 December 2011 (UTC).
