I've deleted the bit about Steeltown USA being by brilliant authors. The book is garbage.

Are there any better pictures of campus available? The image of "campus, looking east" is awful. --65.25.93.126 23:18, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- Here, check out this page from my flickr, I took some shots from campus. I'll watch this page - let me know if you want to use the few shots I have and I'll upload 'em. I'd do it myself, but I don't know how to insert them into the entry : ) [1]

User 24.154.65.245, please stop blanking the famous alumni section. Al Bundy is not the only famous alumnus, and I'd hard pressed to even say he's the most famous. 65.25.93.126 17:01, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Ysulogo.gif
Image:Ysulogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

mascot being an Emperor Penguin?
Hi, I am polishing up Emperor Penguin for FAC, and was wondering whether there was a refence somehwere which said the mascot was specifically an Emperor penguin rather than just a penguin. Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 20:58, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Academics section
In the academics section, is it accurate to say YSU is one of the "few" 4-year colleges to have actual professors teaching undergraduates. Personally, I have never really looked into it, but I'd imagine there are more than a "few" (if one considers a few to mean, say, under 15). Does someone else have more deatailed figures or a way to clarify this? JakeH07 (talk) 02:52, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Campus Shooting
I added the section of the YSU off-campus shooting, since I beleave it to be significant. One person is dead, 11 wounded, one of which is critical. This part of the article was deleated. I think we should have a vote on weather it should be in this article or not. For the time being, I moved the content to my own wikipedia homepage. Shadow Android (talk) 17:12, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- It's not really a matter of voting as Wikipedia is not a democracy. It's either appropriate for the article or it isn't. I removed the information because of the policies of WP:NOTNEWS and WP:EVENT. As it stands now, it is simply an unfortunate event that in a short amount of time will simply be a footnote in history if that. That could be subject to change with new info, but it appears to be a random act of violence. It would be one thing if this shooting led to massive changes on campus (in that case it would be made part of the history section) or even around other campuses (like the Kent State shootings), but nothing suggests that is the case at this point. Wikipedia articles aren't for everything that is on or happens on a college campus (this event didn't even happen on campus). This event is far different than the Northern Illinois University shooting or the Virginia Tech massacre.--JonRidinger (talk) 18:20, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- I understand what you are saying. The biggest change right now is that the govenor of Ohio and the mayor of Youngstown are meeting and suggest that the Ohio State Highway Patrol have an increased presences and corroperate with the PD of Youngstown. Edit: Fraternities
The Phi Mu Alpha fraternity is a fraternity on the YSU campus, but is not part of "Greek Life" because they do not subscribe to the interfraternity council. I am requesting a help in editing it into the article properly as I am not sure of the most appropriate way to do so.
I have noticed that the fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota is also missing. These are both fraternities of music, verifiable by speaking with anyone from the Dana School of Music located in Bliss Hall.
I am a music minor on YSU's campus and a brother in Phi Mu Alpha.
