Removed part about local rumors

[edit]

Don't see how local rumors that more airlines may come in the future is encyclopedic. Is there a source for that? 75.24.46.49 17:51, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:YWRA.jpg

[edit]

Image:YWRA.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

more harrassment from Daysleeper

From Daysleeper: Boxtop, thanks for expanding Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. Your citations and additions, however, do not meet Wikipedia's standard for proper citations. I encourage you to read Wikipedia:Citing sources before you add any further information to this article. Regards, Daysleeper47 (talk) 15:43, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

From Boxtop1: removed detailed history of USAF ops since the many citations did not meet Wikipedia standards according to someone called daysleeper. The few people like him spoil Wikipedia for the many

From Daysleeper: ~~Boxtop1`I didn't ask for the information to be removed. I asked for it to be properly cited. If you had added citations properly, I wouldn't have had an issue with the material you added. I'm a big USAF and Youngstown buff. I want to see the expansion of that article as much as the next guy, but it must be done properly. That means it must be cited. You state that I ruin Wikipedia for everyone, but Wikipedia's legitimacy will only increase when things are cited properly. --Daysleeper47 (talk) 19:33, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

From Boxtop1: Your zeal blinds you to the obnoxious effect of your interventions. Your self-appointed role of protector of Wikipedia's academic integrity is neither needed nor appreciated.

Here are the citations that troubled you to such an extent. “U.S. Planning to Reopen 13 More Air Bases”, New York Times, December 22, 1950; "ADC Youngstown Base Opens, 50,000 Visit," Air Force Times, August 30, 1952; Bill Green, The First Line: Air Defense in the Northeast, 1952-1960 (Fairview, Penn.: Wonderhorse Publications, 1994); Rene Francillion, Air National Guard (Aerospace Publications, 1993); Maurer Maurer, Air Force Combat Units of World War II (Washington, D.C.: U.S. Government Printing Office, 1961); Maurer Maurer, Combat Squadrons of the Air Force, World War II (Washington, D.C.: U.S. Government Printing Office, 1982); "Air Force to Drop Base and 3 Units”, New York Times, October 29, 1959; Richard F. McMullen, History of Air Defense Weapons, ADC Historical Study No. 14 (Headquarters, Air Defense Command: Historical Division, Office of Information, n.d.) online at www.radomes.org; “Aerial Defense Plans Stir Congress Debate”, New York Times, June 21, 1959; This is the First Air Force (Mitchel AFB: Office of Information Services, Continental Air Command, n.d.) My zeal blinds me? I am simply following Wikipedia's policies. If you have a problem with that, Cry Me a River. --Daysleeper47 (talk) 19:02, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Air Force history of Youngstown Airport

[edit]

After being informed by Daysleeper that the citations that I provided for this article do not meet Wikipedia standards, after being urged by Daysleeper to read certain guidelines in this regard before doing anything else, I chose to remove the contribution and end my participation in Wikipedia. I am removing all of my USAF history articles.

Editing or cleaning up an article is one thing, but issuing instructions is not acceptible to me.

Here is what Daysleeper wrote to another Youngstown contributor: "Honestly, this is an excyclopedia, with format and policies governing it's appearance. Your logo doesn't conform to the standard layout for airline listings. I take Wikipedia (and Youngstown) very seriously. Who on Wikipedia cares if Youngstown has one airline? No one. People in Youngstown care, for sure, but Wikipedia is not the airport's marketing tool. The logo will continue to be removed according to precedent established in other airport articles."

This officious person can have the sandbox all to himself.

For whatever reason a person named Ken Gallagher restored the article (the citations that troubled Daysleeper are unchanged). I removed it again. Kindly respect my wishes and do not restore it again. Boxtop1 (talk) 14:15, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for calling me a jerk (and then promptly removing it). If you have a problem with me, please leave your comments on my talk page. That is for what it is intended. --Daysleeper47 (talk) 13:02, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Runways

[edit]

At the moment, I do not have the time or the knowledge to edit this, but on Google maps, there is a picture with 3 runways, with the new (very small) one paralleling the large one. TravelCRAZED (talk) 16:46, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's not entirely new. It was put in about 10 years ago. It is an unmarked asphalt strip intended solely for the use of the attached air reserve station's C-130's to practice tactical short landings and cargo drops. I should not be included in the list of airport runways. --Daysleeper47 (talk) 13:17, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:YNG logo concept b (1).JPG Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:YNG logo concept b (1).JPG, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Outdated Travel Statistics

[edit]

Both of the statistics and the passenger traffic sections of this article are fairly outdated, both from 2018, before Allegiant Airlines stopped providing service to the airport. As well, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics no longer has data about the airport, and the passenger count would likely be 0 or very close to 0. Should either section be removed or updated?
