Quick-fail criteria

[edit]
  1. The article completely lacks reliable sources – see Wikipedia:Verifiability.
  2. The topic is treated in an obviously non-neutral way – see Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.
  3. There are cleanup banners that are obviously still valid, including {{cleanup}}, {{wikify}}, {{NPOV}}, {{unreferenced}} or large numbers of {{fact}}, {{clarifyme}}, or similar tags.
  4. The article is or has been the subject of ongoing or recent, unresolved edit wars.
  5. The article specifically concerns a rapidly unfolding current event with a definite endpoint.

This article doesn't meet any of the quick-fail criteria, so I will now assess this article by the good article criteria.

Good article criteria

[edit]
GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):

    • "You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home" average-to-low commercial outcomes for Cyrus in several countries – "was met with" needs to be added between "You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home" and "average-to-low."
    • This includes Canada and the United States. – Superfluous sentence, remove.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):

Reference 4 is messed up; this can be resolved by placing <nowiki> and </nowiki> tags around the brackets in the title. Online media sources such as Allmusic and Disney.com should not be italicized, and the "Music notes.com" in reference 5 should be changed to "MusicNotes.com." Remove the comment about the song borrowing Hilary Duff lyrics immediately or find a reliable source stating such a thing. This is almost the equivalent of accusing the songwriters of plagiarism which is not okay.
Done References 1, 2, and 9 still need to be unitalicized.
I also looked over something – the statement that the song only received airplay on Radio Disney is not cited. –Chase (talk) 23:26, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
     Done -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 23:04, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The information about the songwriters later collaborating on another song is unnecessary detail as it does not concern this song's artist, nor the TV series/film.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
File:You'll Always Find Your WAy Back Home.JPG does not meet WP:NFCC#8. I'm marking 6b as a pass because once this image is removed, there will be none.
Why doesn't it meet WP:NFCC#8? It is talked about in the text and an image should back it up. Without watching the video, you are left with an idea of what it looked like but nothing solid and there is no link for the video in the external links, so I think it does meet the requirement. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 23:08, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not all song articles will (or should) have an image in the music video section as many music videos these days are easily describable with words. The text in the section sums it up perfectly, with the outfit she wears and that she performs on a stage. If you show me where I could find the music video, I might be able to tell you what could replace this (if anything). –Chase (talk) 23:26, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    I think all articles should. Is this worth failing the review? -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 23:34, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Believe it or not, it is. Image compliance with our image policies including WP:NFCC is vital to an article meeting the GA criteria. We have very strict policies on what can and what cannot be used here on Wikipedia, and when it comes to non-free content, we must use it as sparingly as possible. A music video image of an ordinary person in an ordinary outfit performing on an ordinary stage in front of ordinary people is easily describable by words, and thus the use of non-free content is not necessary. This is why the image fails WP:NFCC#8, and the article will not pass this GA review unless it is removed. Please also see the comments I have left on references and original research. –Chase (talk) 16:08, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    Pass/Fail:
I'm putting this on hold for one week so that improvements can be made to the article. If my comments are not addressed by then, I will fail this article's GAN. –Chase (talk) 23:38, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    Everything's done. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 19:04, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not the Radio Disney issue I brought up (above). Find a cite for this statement or remove it. –Chase (talk) 21:38, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I checked online and I couldnt find any reliable source, so i deleted the sentence. Mephiston999 (talk) 11:44, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
All concerns addressed, passing this GAN. –Chase (talk) 19:51, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
