- His birth date is not May 27th! Keep your opinion for the Greek Wikipedia! 89.210.216.233 (talk) 13:52, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
Incorrect number of Academy Award nominations
[edit]The article opens stating that he has three. He was four: one for Dogtooth, one for The Lobster, and two for The Favourite. Corrected. Thechillingofasacredbeer (talk) 12:01, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
- The Oscar-nomination for Dogtooth was in the "Best Foreign Language Film" category. Such nominations are not attributed to individuals (e.g. directors or producers), but to countries. The official rules for the category state: "The Academy statuette (Oscar) will be awarded to the film and accepted by the director on behalf of the film’s creative talents. For Academy Awards purposes, the country will be credited as the nominee." Lanthimos therefore never was nominated in this category. Rooboos (talk) 20:07, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
Incorrect journalism regarding forthcoming Emma Stone collaboration
[edit]Lanthimos did not say this. It is lazy reporting on Cineuropa's part.
First of all, he did not report anything to Cineuropa. This is all pulled from the Poor Things Venice press conference, and then frankensteined together to create a false representation of what he said.
For example, at the link below (2:31:18) you'll hear him say the exact quote cited here "much simpler and very different in comparison to Poor Things because that story needed that particular style"
This not something he said in relation to any film "shot in Greece" - he is very obviously talking about AND.

And then here at the 2:12:53 mark, he briefly mentions he made a film in Greece. He is obviously not talking about a new feature.
Nothing in the Cineuropa article isn't lifted verbatim from the press conference, so unless Yorgos somehow is word for word reciting things he's already said in new contexts, I think its safe to just call this bad reporting on Cineuropa's part.
