I don't really want this to become a very long review, but I am happy to offer some thoughts. My first impression is that, in places, the writing is very poor.

  • ""Yo-Yo" was Roberts' first collaboration with Maya Von Doll and Dimitri Tikovoi after which time Roberts claimed the track had defined her musical style and she has an emotional connection because of this." I don't understand what this means. An emotional connection with what?
 Fixed
  • "A music video presenting the lyricism of the track was released; the video sees Roberts repeatedly change outfit for a party in which she finds her on-screen boyfriend cheating on her ending with an aggressive confrontation." Long, complicated sentence. More pertinent questions: When was the video released? Who directed it?
Done added release date but didn't find the director.
  • Is it a dance-pop song, an electropop song or a synthpop song?
 Fixed
  • ""Yo-Yo" was the first song she had written with Maya von Doll and Dimitri Tikovoi" I'm assuming this is significant? Did they also work on other songs in the album? Was it the first of all the album's songs to be written?
 Fixed
  • It really does feel very quote-heavy. In the production section, you've got a blockquote, a boxed off quote and four (five, before my editing) quotes in a fairly short paragraph. Could some of this be converted to prose?
 Done. Better with two?
  • ""Yo-Yo" was released on 2 January 2012, with Roberts announcing on her official website that the single would be released in CD format featuring a live performance of the song in addition to the demo version of her song "Sticks + Stones".[10]" So, presumably, the first release was a download release? When was the CD format released? Also, what about the EPs? At the very least, the release dates would be nice.
 Done
  • What's an "808 kick-drum"?
 Fixed
  • "Though the 1950s concept "goes completely out of the window" for an "unhinged" middle eight, featuring a classic-style club mix which speeds up the drum-machine featured in the song." Hard to follow what is being said here. Also, "middle eight" is a bit jargony.
 Fixed
  • "Roberts sings "Don’t want to be the last to know-oh oh oh" and at times the lyricism features expletives." Who cares? I don't see the importance of either of these facts.
 Fixed
  • "Described as "confessional" and "wistful" lyrics by Robert Copsey of Digital Spy, she sings "I'm the kind of girl who likes to dream a lot" during a "conversational" performance, before entering a Kate Bush style vocal performance." Very difficult to follow.
 Fixed
  • "In a separate review Lisa Wright from NME found that while the song didn't match the success of "Beat of My Drum" Wright said "Not a cuss-ridden introduction to Nicola’s re-emergence as an English Syd Tha Kyd, but a questionable metaphor about being like a crap ’90s toy."" Opaque. It's not clear what you're trying to say here.
 Fixed
  • I'm not really seeing the need for the non-free video screenshot.
 Fixed
  • "a larger group of people join Roberts in a white room" Is this the same white room as the one in which the man was playing with the yo-yo? If so, call it the white room.
 Done
  • "which shows her laying atop the same man who had been walking with the women through the streets" The room shows her laying atop a man? What does that mean?
 Fixed
  • "Roberts is seen accompanied by a large group of people inside a white room, she is laying atop the same man who had been featured earlier embracing another woman." Again, I'm struggling to follow what's going on here. The same white room? The same man?
 Fixed
  • "A fully clothed Roberts then stands within a shower cubicle getting increasingly wet, and a montage of the scenes previously shown in the video play simultaneously." The montage plays simultaneously with the cubicle scene, or several montages play simultaneously?
 Fixed
  • "she recognizes the man who she had been sat with earlier is intimate with another woman" Unclear
 Fixed
  • Was it The Album Chart Show she appeared on? I suspect so, but she isn't mentioned in our article on the show.
 Fixed
  • I'm assuming the song was performed live on her tour? That needs to be mentioned.
 Done
  • I'm not really feeling the mention of Titchmarsh in the lead over and above other performances
 Fixed
  • The infobox image is a little big. Could you upload a 300 by 300 one and tag the image with {{non-free reduced}}?
 Done
  • Is Holy Moly really a reliable source for a review?
Review removed
  • I'm also not keen on SoSoGay as a source
Review removed
  • No mention in the article prose of its chart positions, its producer or of the record label- these are three important questions about any pop song.
 Done
  • What's going on with this source? Does the official chart even go up to 111?
The top 200 is published by UKChartsPlus.

I've done some pretty heavy copyediting, but in some places I'm not clear on what is being said. With a little work, this could get to GA status, but it isn't quite there yet. Hopefully it'll be ready to promote within a few days. J Milburn (talk) 19:19, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed some of the issues. I will fix more soon. Jorn talk 19:42, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
All  Done. Jorn talk 21:02, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Some very solid improvements- it's looking a lot better. I'm not going to promote quite yet, as I do want to have a look through the prose when I'm feeling a little sharper. J Milburn (talk) 21:38, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. Jorn talk 00:10, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Still not quite ready to promote; a few more questions-

  • "and was the first song to be composed by the group for the album." Was it the first overall, or the first by that particular combination of writers? (Also below- ""Yo-Yo" was the first song she had written with Maya von Doll and Dimitri Tikovoi for the album. The recording was also one of the first songs Roberts wrote, and it helped define her musical style")
  • "A music video presenting the lyricism of the track" I don't know what this means.
 Fixed
  • Has Roberts toured at all? Presumably, if she has, this was on the setlist?
She hasn't.

Almost there! J Milburn (talk) 15:00, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there's an outstanding issue, but I'm happy that this is ready. Great work! J Milburn (talk) 18:57, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
