Promotional intent/autobiography
[edit]This article seems full of promotional intent, please advise — Preceding unsigned comment added by G3n3nric (talk • contribs) 19:47, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
- Advise? Cut it to normal Wiki format. Keep in mind it's a living person, so don't do everything you jusifiably feel like doing. Ready... steady... not gone yet? Arminden (talk) 18:33, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
Cleanup tag
[edit]I put on cleanup tag. Someone should tell Mr. Fleisher how unpleasant this braggadocio is to read.Rich (talk) 14:29, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- Neah, don't bother. Ever read Daniel Seaman's initial article? That's the standard hasbara CV format. Like an Uzbek presidential family member's. And with the same number of "helpers" fixing any shade of criticism - which is in no way an invitation to fatalism, quite the contrary. 'Cause that's why there are editors. Arminden (talk) 18:41, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
- Done @Richard L. Peterson: I reworked the article and removed the cleanup tag. Platonk (talk) 07:35, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
Explanation of edit
[edit]There was a request to clean up this article with the reason "this is an encyclopedia, not LinkedIn", and some complaints on the Talk page about the article being too promotional. I spent a lot of time reworking this whole article, and I checked every citation (there were 36). I tried to rework it into the order we normally see for BLPs (per MOS) and keep the content on-topic and relevant. This article was so convoluted that I apologize that the diff will be unusable for any practical purposes (one would have to compare before and after versions). I did a lot of removal, including:
- Removed excess citations that didn't verify any content.
- Removed content that didn't have a source (per WP:BLP).
- Removed WP:OR.
- Removed some external links masquerading as citations. (eBay, really?)
- Removed some WP:COATRACK items, like the content that came only from an op-ed 'blogger' piece based on fallout from something Fleisher wrote, but the fallout drama was related to the NYTimes editor who agreed to publish it.
- Removed a few citations that were self-published (by Fleisher himself); not appropriate reliable sources for the content they purported to support.
- Removed two images that didn't contribute value to the article.
- Removed WP:UNDUE content that was just cluttering up the article.
I added some content where I felt it was necessary for the reader's understanding, or were things you would expect in a BLP (like Fleisher's age), a basic "personal life" section, and some links in the "external links" section. I also put things in a more chronological order than they were before, and tackled all the inline tags.
Feel free to tweak the new version of this article, or correct anything I got wrong. Platonk (talk) 07:30, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
Why tf are we glorifying this guy
[edit]This article is so biased it makes my brain go backwards. This guy is at the forefront of seizing houses from Palestinians, has openly called for apartheid against non Jews and is leader of the settlers in Hebron who are the most violent. Why are glorifying him? He’s no hero. At least in the article portray him as a controversial person and mention the horrible things he’s doing to Palestinians especially in Hebron 99.232.236.142 (talk) 16:47, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- Do you have any sources detailing any of those points on the subject? Iskandar323 (talk) 19:47, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- Until I edited it, the article also referred to him as spokesman for the Jewish community in "Hebron in Israel", even though Hebron is not in Israel. — Red XIV (talk) 07:13, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- It would probably be better to simply write "Hebron" since palestine's existence is disputed Personfromthegalille (talk) 01:04, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
