Yifei Ye → Ye Yifei – I want to move the article based on the Chinese name format where the surname placed first. In motorsport, he always called by Yifei Ye than Ye Yifei, but to make it consistent with other Chinese figures, and people his name has to be Ye Yifei. It's not Zedong Mao, it's Mao Zedong for example. Originally it supposed to be Ye Yifei but someone change it to Ye Yife, I want to revert it but cannot. Thfeeder (talk) 15:01, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- Noting that it was moved to current title in December 2023 in this diff [1] based on WP:COMMONNAME. It does appear that Yifei Ye is commonly used, by his team [2] and the press, e.g. [3], [4], [5]. LizardJr8 (talk) 20:36, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- It does used more often by them, but it should be revert back to the original name. Because the press and his team use the western format more often than use by the Chinese format. If he has a western name of course I do not ask these kind of move, but it still better to use by the chinese format of Ye Yifei. Thfeeder (talk) 00:50, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. Firstly, please offer a reason for your intended revert. Wikipedia goes by WP:COMMONNAME, not birth name – let alone
"consistency with other Chinese figures"
. We judge this case by case. You appear to be aware that press, series, team and Ye himself use the Western format, so I see no grounds for further discussion.
