Arizona
[edit]I see someone has done a lot of good work to this page since I first created it. I just wanted to explain why I added the "Indian Wars in Arizona" template, in case anybody was wondering. Mostly its because the area of present day Arizona south of the Gila River was still part of Sonora, Mexico until 1853 (and even then Mexican troops remained until 1856 when the first American fort was built, Fort Buchanan). And because the Yaqui wars were pretty serious and widespread and often spilled over into Arizona territory, such as during the Battle of Bear Valley (1918) and the Yaqui Uprising (1896, which involved Yaquis who lived in AZ).--$1LENCE D00600D (talk) 05:58, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
