The prefectural symbols

[edit]

(Flower, Tree, Bird) are very vague translations. I tried to get more information and locate the botanical name for them but it looks like there is very little information available in English.

Especially the prefectural tree (Kaede; 楓 or カエデ) seems to have to many different names and variations according to The Maple website.

Any hint or better translation is welcome.

I wonder if it is really necessary to be so specific with the city symbols as to even add the botanical name, which is of no interest to the majority of people. I think a general english name for the bird, flower should be more helpful. Does anyone really care about the subspecies? Who cares very much about the city symbols anways. I don't think it's necessary to put such big effort in it. Just my two cents. Cheers Geofrog 03:29, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Radiation effects?

[edit]

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to add information about radiation effects of the leaks of the Fukushima nuclear power plants.
