City of Yalta
[edit]Within the administrative frame work of Ukraine, is the small-c "city of Yalta" within the Yalta City Municipality (city of regional significance) a city of district significance? Or, are we talking "city of Yalta" as a statistical/territorial settlement with no corresponding government/council below the greater City Municipality level? --Criticalthinker (talk) 08:26, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- No, Yalta is a city under administration of Yalta Municipality (as well as for instance Alupka). The status is indeed similar to a city of district significance.--Ymblanter (talk) 10:24, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- The answer is yes, then, and not no. Within the Yalta City Municipality, the settlement of Yalta is equivalent to a city of district significance and equal to level of the other councils within the city municipality. --Criticalthinker (talk) 10:56, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- It is indeed equivalent but it does not have the same name. It would not be correct to say that Alupka is a town of district significance.--Ymblanter (talk) 11:06, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- Well, Alpuka is governed by an (urban-type) settlement council, right? Anyway, that aside I take it that you mean Yalta proper doesn't have an associated city council, and it thus ruled directly by the municipality council/administration. --Criticalthinker (talk) 11:16, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
