News

  • In late 2006, Yahoo began a campaign to upgrade their maps, to compete better with Google Local and other online map companies. Several of the maps used in the survey were similar to Google maps. The online survey is here. Best wishes, Travb (talk) 06:32, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • At this time (july 17, 2015), the service is still available. I will not change the page for now ejacquet (talk) 22:06, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • At this time (11/9/15), it is available by going to maps.yahoo.com/directions/. If you go to simply maps.yahoo.com, it redirects to search.

API discontinuation

[edit]

According to an announcement on the Yahoo maps developer page https://developer.yahoo.com/maps/ , the services are being shut down. This should probably be mentioned in the article. Tweisbach (talk) 06:50, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

... I would suggest that the entire article needs to be rewritten in the past tense... Eg "Yahoo maps *was* a site that.... etc, etc..."
