Kanji reading
[edit]According to her kanji name, 三瓶 由布子 should be written as Yuuko Sanpei without the long ū because the second u is the 布 kanji. I've changed the article accordingly. —29th ((☎)) 15:56, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Yūko Sanpei → Yuuko Sanpei – Her name is spelled 由 yu + 布 u + 子 ko. Romanizing 由布子 as Yūko is like romanizing 井上 as Inōe and 松浦 as Matsūra. See also Yuu Watase and Yuu Kashii; they are not romanized Yū because they are originally 悠/由 yu + 宇 u. (Though 悠 is usually read yū, there are sometimes exceptions on personal names and it is obvious that 宇 takes the final u.) Similarly, 布 takes the middle u in this case. - Support. Current title seems to be based on a misunderstanding. Quigley (talk) 08:06, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
