Article name

[edit]

Glad to see this article created. Just a thought, should this maybe be under the title "Kim Junsu discography"? Kim Junsu is the name of his article, and several of his releases were not under the XIA name. Also, XIA in all-caps violates the article naming rules, as it's not an acronym. What do you think about moving the article to the abovementioned location? :) Shinyang-i (talk) 09:46, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Several of his releases? Nope. Most of his releases are uniformely under XIA (yes with capitals, because that's his stage name, not Xia) since he left SM. He had only one release under Xiah Junsu, but since he fully went solo, his releases are consistently XIA. The musical record is an exception since as a musical actor he uses Kim Junsu, but that's only one release. We can expect that all his pop releases will be under XIA in the future as well. So there are three major albums, three singles under XIA, 1 single under Xiah Junsu, 1 musical release under Kim Junsu. To me this is 6-1-1 for XIA. Hey I was trying to be nice, okay?
  • First regarding the all-caps, that's not your choice. It's a long-established Wikipedia thing. No all caps, regardless of artist intent, unless it's an acronym. Go yell at someone much, much higher up the food chain than me if you don't like it. :( This is one of those situations where, hey, you didn't know a rule so another editor is letting you know. That's part of collaborative work and is not a personal attack or something to argue about.
  • Second, regarding the actual name, I don't feel it's as cut and dry as you're making it out to be. I don't care personally what name it's under, but I think it's at least worth discussion instead of just shutting it all down. I know you hate discussion, but that's kind of what Wikipedia is all about. This wasn't meant to be an argument, it's a freaking discussion, but you always seem to see any attempt at discussing anything as a challenge and a declaration you're wrong. If this were anything but kpop, we'd be calmly discussing the pros and cons of using different names instead of being all defensive.
  • You're the one that wanted his biographical article to be at "Kim Junsu", moved from "Junsu." Why didn't you request "XIA" instead if you feel that's his identity?
  • He's used, and continues to use, multiple names over the course of his career for solo works. Maybe he had no choice when he was under SM Ent, I don't know, but those names still got used regardless. After he left SM Ent he used "Kim Junsu" and "Junsu" for various works like Sungkyunkwan Scandal OST, Scent of a Woman OST, Innocent Man OST. And even now he uses "Kim Junsu" for his musical works, the CDs and DVDs of which wind up in his discography, such as Kim Jun Soo Musical Concert Levay with Friends DVD and Das Musical Elisabeth CD/DVD set, in which he's credited in giant letters as "Kim Junsu". Since so many items on the disocg require a note that he's not credited as "XIA", maybe it'd be better to just put it all under his real name and then clarify each work's credited name. MAYBE. It's a discussion, not a challenge to your status as a JYJ fan or as an editor.
  • Overall, articles should be titled by the most commonly-used name. When thinking about it that way, it's actually hard for me to determine what name he's best known under. But I'd say that the "Junsu" name is more familiar to more people than the "XIA" name. "Youngwoong" is probably more familiar to people outside JYJ/TVXQ fandom than "Jaejoong", but Jaejoong does not use that name at all anymore, so it would be inappropriate. In contrast, Junsu is not a former or abandoned name, it's one he still uses so it's not inappropriate. I'm not saying it's the absolute best, but its definitely a commonly-known name for him.
  • Basically, though he's chosen to call himself XIA for his solo pop music works, his discography goes beyond just those works, so the article and its title have to consider how best to accommodate his multiple identities. So let's discuss instead of you getting all mad, okay? :) Shinyang-i (talk) 01:28, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
