Picture layout

[edit]

When I view this article in Firefox at 1024x768 there is a huge chunk of whitespace between the end of the text in the "Shell description" section and the three shell pictures. This is because of the long infobox, and the pictures won't fit side by side next to it. I've adjusted the layout of the pictures to fill the whitespace. If this is a problem, please revert me. --Bruce1eetalk 06:16, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is no universal solution for this. For resolution allowing to view three thumbs and taxobox, I think, that it is the best to view them in one row. For lower resolution can be two thumbs and taxobox acceptable, but this is solution only for this exact resolution. And for the very low resolution there will be necessary to view only one image anyway (fortunately there is version for mobile devices for this purpose). I tried also to render PDF of this article. Three thumbs will fit very well on the width of the A4 rendered page, while two thumbs and one bellow them is not optimal. I know that wikipedia have to be viewable and accessible for everyone, but I hope that some whitespace (on the internet) does not matter much to much people and if so, they can alternatively use mobile version. That is why I use three thumbs in one row. Optimal way could be a "table" that will broke according to the monitor width. But meantime this way (Wikipedia:Picture tutorial#Galleries) is the best available way. --Snek01 (talk) 10:09, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've reverted my edit. You're right, my solution will only work for the resolution I use. --Bruce1eetalk 10:23, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
