List of the 198

[edit]

Should their powers be listed? Just to get an idea of why they are ranked like this? Is there somewhere online that this article can link to with the complete files? --Torourkeus 21:58, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The 197

if jazz is dead does that make it the 197? Exvicious 22:35, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Who counted?

[edit]

Who decided there are only 198 mutants? I mean, what superduded or government agency counted all of them? Does Namor count?--Chris Griswold 05:39, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea, but it's the number given. *shrug* Runa27 20:23, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Runaways reference?

[edit]

Just so you know, the following post is going to be slightly spoilery for Runaways, so you were warned!

Runaways (in one of the chapters that were collected in the TPB Escape to New York, IIRC) seems to reference some of the events in this series, as after Wolverine gets punched by Molly, he says "198 mutants left, and she's gotta be one of 'em...". (On a sidenote: I have to assume that, regardless of how accurate the count actually is or is not, Molly would have already been counted as one of the remaining mutants, i.e. one of the supposed "198", since she was at one point sent to a home for mutant children by Social Services, which means the gov't knows she exists and is a mutant, obviously). I don't see this noted here, which is surprising, given the popularity of Runaways (and given the otherwise standalone nature of the Runaways series, it's also notable, since it tells you which Marvelverse timeline Runaways takes place in). Should we start a small trivia section and include that? Runa27 20:23, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No trivia section, please. I believe Molly Hayes is listed in the uncited list in the Decimation article. Oh, and there's actually at least a million mutants left.--Chris Griswold () 09:49, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Plot

[edit]

I removed a paragraph from the Plot section which was about Civil War and had nothing to do with 198. It still needs to actually describe the plot in 198 (Mercator, John D, etc). Sazielt c 11:00, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have a seperate issue with the plot summary: is 'formed' the right adjective for O*N*E*? I mean, isn't it implied that they existed pre House of M, but had been dormant? Scanna 13:15, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:X-men-the-198-20060115112900522.jpg

[edit]

Image:X-men-the-198-20060115112900522.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
