Plagarism

[edit]

You keep saying that you aren't plagarizing this plot, well here are the two plots:
Wikipedia

Dale Murphy (Henry Rollins) is hosting and producing his own reality TV show called "The Ultimate Survivalist", with contestants who'll be thrown together for six days in a simulated post-apocalyptic wasteland and the winner will walk away with $100,000 dollars. Located in a remote part of West Virginia, the contestants discover that what they really are fighting for is their survival- against a family of hideously deformed inbred cannibals who plan to ruthlessly butcher them all.

IMDb

Dale Murphy (Henry Rollins) is hosting and producing his own reality T.V show called "The Ultimate Survivalist," with six contestants lead by Nina Papas (Erica Leerhsen) who'll be thrown together for six days in a simulated post-apocalyptic wasteland. Located in a remote part of West Virginia, the contestants discover that what they are really fighting for is their survival- against a family of hideously deformed inbred cannibals who plan to ruthlessly butcher them all... Who will survive?

That seems to me like plagarism. You (the plot writer, and those that defend it as 'not plagarism') have only added "Nina" to the sentence, and everything else is the same. You recently removed "Who will survive?". I have tried to fix this but keep getting reverted. It needs to be fixed immediately. Bignole 00:57, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not Plagarism, just stop being a jerk-off about it.74.195.3.199 21:21, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't know what plagarism is, then maybe you shouldn't be editing Wikipedia. Also, you might want to learn was personal attacks are. Bignole 23:05, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bullshit.`74.195.3.199 03:44, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not plagerism since it's sourced, ie if you copy something without credit it's plagerism, you source it, it isn't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.241.241.32 (talk) 09:45, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, not plagiarism but instead, copyright infringement. The plot shouldn't be copied from elsewhere, but written for Wikipedia like for articles on other films. I watched the movie recently so I might give it a go if I have time. Somno 04:54, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Still plagiarism, the page can get into trouble if it is plagiarized. He is not being a jerk. Viking Fox Queen (talk) 00:15, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia

[edit]

We need to find a way to integrate the relevant info into the main paragraphs. For example, if we had a section on the production of the film, we could integrate the casting information and that it was shot in 25 days, etc. Somno 05:22, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found these guidelines from WikiProject Films that include some suggestions for sections, including the plot: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Films/Style_guidelines Somno 04:11, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is one evil mother of a film. Go Hank!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.35.135.136 (talk) 23:39, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mixed Response?

[edit]

The head says the movie received mixed reviews while the reception section says it was positively received. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.216.72.150 (talk) 22:56, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edits

[edit]

Recently, an editor, User:87Stone, has edited the plot summary's fairly good English into what is clearly poor English which appears to be written by someone whose native language is not English.[1] I have reverted him twice, but he persists in restoring his own odd version.[2][3] He has not provided a single edit summary to justify these changes. Since I originally rewrote this section myself (it was formerly not in very good English and contained a number of inaccuracies), and therefore do not wish to be seen to be laying claim to the section's ownership, and also do not wish to revert him three times, I would appreciate comment here on these edits. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:37, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As I'm sure you know, edit warring is never a good idea. You both have made some good and some questionable edits, and the plot seems to suffer from serious bloat and should be trimmed and tightened. As I haven't seen the film, I'm hesitant to edit the plot for anything other than grammar and wording, but I suggest you both make one clearly explained edit at a time instead of reverting the whole section at once, while carrying on a dialog here. Avoiding edit warring is clearly why I posted this request for comment!! It does indeed suffer from serious bloat, but the solution is not to arbitrarily cut out large chunks and rewrite what's left in poor English, which is why I reverted. And I would point out that I have not changed the article since I posted the request above, so I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:33, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and would you care to point out my "questionable edits"! Just for the record. I'm interested. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:49, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing major, and correcting bad grammar is always good. But I couldn't help but notice that in reverting 87stone's edits en masse (including some decent trimming on his part along with the bad wording), you restored pre-existing obvious problems like "The film begins with" and "(who apparently survived from the first film)", and other poorly worded and overly-detailed parts that should've been trimmed down and fixed instead of put back. That's what I mean by making corrections one or two at a time, especially when another apparently determined editor is involved. If 87stone keeps putting back bad grammar without WP:BRDing it, though, you'd be justified in reporting them. And never leaving any edit summaries doesn't help their case either. Elena's last name

[edit]

Elena's surname is never stated in the film and in the script it is Garcia. I personally like Miller better but there is no proof that I know of. If you have a source for why it is Miller please list it but for now I think it should be Garcia. Scream4man (talk) 20:51, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
