Album Titles

i was at their concert in richmond last night where they leaked some of the tracks off this new album i didn't catch most of the titles but i did catch one title called "fake messiah" which should be added to the list of expected tracks, i would have done it myself but wiki never lets you edit something on your own you have to discuss it first or something, any way some one go ahead and add that.

So I take it that's what "confirmed live" means? could we possibly state in the article that they have actually played these songs in the body of the article? Proposed Deletion

I dont think the article should be deleted. It has sources for the material and the album is due is less than three months, most other album pages already had pages for them then by that time. Disturbedfan30 (talk) 21:51, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Genre

The genre for the album currently is set as Metalcore, and should be changed to Thrash Metal. Mark Morton (Guitarist of Lamb of God) stated in an interview that the only word that comes to mind when he thinks of Wrath is Thrash Metal.

"Sonically, we go to a lot of interesting places on this record, but the word that keeps coming to my mind is ‘thrash’” and “this time there’s a real big Bay Area thrash influence that’s pretty undeniable to me”

Agreed. I've never heard anything that comes close to resembling groove metal in any of LoG's music any way. It sounds all thrash to me. --DJM

To clarify something: editor opinion itself doesn't determine genre. I don't mean this at all in a hostile way, I promise you, but what you or I or anyone else thinks it sounds like is meaningless as far as wikipedia is concerned. It only cares about the sources. Now, so far we have 5 reviews for it. Let's take a look at what they say that could be seen as a genre classification:

• Spin mentions them as "punk-metal", but we don't actually have a genre for that. It also mentions thrash. However, the actual reliability of the site review is questionable: it appears users can rate the album, and the link to the writer doesn't seem to actually go anywhere. So whether this should be used at all is debatable.
• Kerrang! does mention "thrash metal" being in there, but it also mentions "doom-laden" as well.
• Thrash Hits doesn't mention anything other than "metal", although it does make a minor reference to it being "sludgy".
• Metal Invader says, "This is thrashcore". Wikipedia actually has an article on this, and it's not the same as thrash metal. Of course, in this case they most likely mean it in this sense, but that would be interpreting a source.
• Metal Hammer we can't access.

So, all told we do have a few bits and bobs for "thrash metal" (and in truth not much more than we have for doom or sludge), but none of it is at all conclusive. Given that the album hasn't even officially been released yet, I recommend that for now we keep the genre simply as "heavy metal". While this album does show a thrash influence (influence is the key word), this is strictly groove metal. Wrath owes a lot more to bands like Pantera or Machine Head than Megadeth/Metallica/Slayer/etc. Groove metal has always been the core of Lamb of God's sound. Speaking of core, I don't hear any of it in Wrath. No metalcore, thrashcore, call it what you will. The release date is advertised as the 24th of February, but the album is already commercially available in Australia (purchased today, 18th February). The date an album was leaked onto the Internet is usually not notable, unless it resulted in some other action that is notable, such as being directly responded to by the musical artist or their management, or the leak itself receiving broad media coverage.

Contractor Wikilink

When I click on the link for the song Contractor, it takes me to the page for the wikipedia definition of a contractor. I think this is a pretty irrelevant and misleading link. Most anyone listening to this kind of music is at an age where they know well enough what the word contractor means.
